Well Tuesday greeted us with
some more cold and rainy weather! It worked will for us to talk about Noah and
all the rain that he endured for 40 days and 40 nights! We had a great day working, playing and
learning together. It was so wonderful
to see so many of you at our Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat event this past
Friday night! I hope you all had a
wonderful time and enjoyed seeing our new early childhood wing.
Jesus Time: Today we continued our story about Noah and this is
what we learned today….
Genesis 6
Many years later there were lots of people on the Earth, but
most of them were bad. One man-Noah-was
good. He obeyed God. “I want you to build a boat, God told
Noah. Noah started right away. People laughed at Noah because they lived in
a desert and there was no water for the boat.
Noah just went on building the boat. After the boat was built God told Noah to
bring his family and bring animals 2 by 2 into the Ark. After everyone was in Noah closed the door and
it began to rain for 40 days and 40 nights after it was done raining. Noah sent a white dove out of the boat and
the Dove returned with a green branch signaling that there was green land somewhere!
We had the opportunity during free choice play to play with some
Noah’s ark and all the animals he put inside them.
During Center Time we practiced cutting with scissors as we cut
out the story of Noah and gluing them in the correct order on a piece of
paper.
Number: Number three is what we are studying this month. We practiced making the number three with our
fingers this is good practice for our finger and hand muscles. We practiced counting to three and looking at
what the number three looks like.
During center time we used foam leaf stickers of three different
colors and put 3 of each color on our tree.
This activity allowed us to work our fine motor skills, as we had to
peel the backing off of our stickers and then turn them over and place them on
our tree. We got really good at counting
to three as we counted many leaves on our tree.
Shape: We are learning about a circle this month. We learned that there is no beginning and end
to a circle and that we can think of many things that look like a circle.
Letter: We began working on the letter “F” this week. We talked about words that began with the
letter “F” like flower, food, fancy, fish, fun and funny.
During center time we colored a picture of a Fish and it should
of come home in your child’s red folder.
Color: Orange is our
color of the month. So we spent time
during morning meeting identifying different things that were orange.
We used an orange bingo dauber to decorate a cupcake liner that
we are going to turn into a jack lantern this week and we also decorated a leaf
with an orange bingo dauber.
Music and Movement: We sang the Wheels on the Bus, Clapped and
stomped our feet. We practiced singing
our ABC’s, Twinkle Little Star and Jesus Loves we did some jumping and
counting, and acting Silly during the silly dance contest. WE are also learning the finger play 5 Little
Pumpkins
Outside Time: Since the weather was yucky outside today,
we went to the commons today and had fun playing with our friends from the
other PDO Classes. We practiced throwing
a ball and using a hula hoops.
Patterning: We continued
working on our pumpkin leaf pattern during morning meeting.
Enjoy the pictures from our day!
Free Choice Play
Today we listened to music from Vince Guaraldi Trio, the composer who writes music for Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang. We had fun trying new puzzles, looking at new books and just having fun with our friends.
Morning Meeting
We added rain drops to our Noah picture on the wall to help us remember that it rained for 40 days and 40 nights.
This book was great it allowed us to see all the great things that happen in the Fall and things that some of our friends in our class have already done and what they are going to do.
Transition Time
We are working on recognizing our first name this month we are putting leaves on a tree with our name on it. We have to wait till our name is called and then we find a spot to put our leaf on the tree. WE are doing really well at waiting our turn and following directions something that at times can be very challenging for this age group.
After we washed our hands we tried our hand at tossing a pumpkin bean bag into a pumpkin bucket. I was not able to capture a picture of everyone some of my friends were super fast! This helped us with our gross motor skills.
Circle Time
Today we had fun singing dancing and learning about the letter F. We also are working on the Finger Play 5 Little Pumpkins ask your child if they know some of the actions to the finger play.
We had fun talking about the different animals that were on the farm and the sounds they make as well as where they live on the farm.
After we practiced the 5 little pumpkins with our fingers we practiced the poem by me drawing it on our board.
Commons Time
After our time in the commons we went for a walk inside the older part of our school. As we walked we talked about the different things we saw on the walls. We even stopped into the office and said Hi to Mrs. Schmidt the school secretary. It is important to have the children become familiar with our campus and the people that work on it we will be taking lots of walks over the course of the year.
We stopped and looked at this neat cross that is at the front of our school. Many of the children were able to see that Jesus was in the picture.
We were very curious about the yellow school bus that was outside the office door. If you have boxtops our school collects them and we get a percentage of money back that helps our school buy things to further our children's education.
We found a circle and we told what color we were standing on before we went inside for center time.
Center Time
Bingo Dauber Fun
Coloring the letter F
Counting to three with leaves!
Cutting and Telling the Story of Noah
Music and Movement
We got to see how a pumpkin grows from a seed!
Independent Reading
After lunch we have a small amount of time before we go home. This is a time that is highly encouraged for the children to "read" a book. Even though the children can not read yet, we are fostering that love for reading, by looking at books. We practice holding the books the correct way, handling the books with loving hands, how to turn the pages. Having books available to your child at home can only help them learn the love for books.
It was another great day in ROOM C. Have a wonderful rest of the week and don't forget to wear your ORANGE NEXT WEEK!!
