Our Wednesday was
great. We scaled back on what we did
this week and eased our way into some of our activities to help our friends who
are still adjusting to coming to a school setting. We spent our morning playing with new toys. We took our time transitioning to morning
meeting, everyone did great at snack. We
took a walk to ease into playing outside; we spent about 45 minutes on our
playground playing with friends and toys.
We ate lunch a little earlier today and then had fun doing a few centers
and then back outside to play. We had
fewer tears and we are working through the day with a little more ease. It is going to take time and the more
comfortable the students became with the classroom and the rules the easier the
transition will become.
Jesus Time: Today we continued our story about Noah and this is
what we learned today….
Genesis 6
Many years later there were lots of people on the Earth, but
most of them were bad. One man-Noah-was
good. He obeyed God. “I want you to build a boat, God told
Noah. Noah started right away. People laughed at Noah because they lived in
a desert and there was no water for the boat.
Noah just went on building the boat.
We had the opportunity during free choice play to play with some
Noah’s ark and all the animals he put inside them.
Number: Number three is what we are studying this month. We practiced making the number three with our
fingers this is good practice for our finger and hand muscles. We practiced counting to three and looking at
what the number three looks like.
Shape: We are learning about a circle this month. We learned that there is no beginning and end
to a circle and that we can think of many things that look like a circle.
During center time we got to use a paper towel roll to make a
circle collage with orange paint.
Letter: We are continuing our study about the letter “E” this
week. We learned about different words that begin with the letter E, such as
Elephant, every, our Friend Evan’s names starts with E, excited, exactly, egg
and emotion.
Color: Orange is our
color of the month. So we spent time
during morning meeting identifying different things that were orange.
We painted a picture of a jack lantern today the color orange. .
Music and Movement: We sang the Wheels on the Bus, Clapped and
stomped our feet. We practiced singing
our ABC’s, Twinkle Little Star and Jesus Loves Me WE are also learning the finger play 5 Little
Pumpkins
Outside Time: It was beautiful outside today, so we took
around Zion’s campus and talked about all the neat things we saw a long our
walk. We then played on the playground with our
friends from the other classes. Playing
outside is a very important part of Early Childhood, so we do spend a lot of
time playing and learning outside weather permitting.
Patterning: We introduced
a new pattern today of pumpkins and leaves that we will work on more through
out the month today.
