Apple Fun Filled Thursday

Thursday, October 02, 2014

What a rainy dreary day we started with in ROOM C but that didn’t keep us from having a great day.  This group does really well playing together, we are working on using our words when someone does something we don’t like and also remembering that it is nice to share with our friends and that Jesus would want us to share be kind and nice to our friends.

Jesus Time: Today we began learning about Noah and this is what we learned today….

Genesis 6
Many years later there were lots of people on the Earth, but most of them were bad.  One man-Noah-was good.  He obeyed God.  “I want you to build a boat, God told Noah.  Noah started right away.  People laughed at Noah because they lived in a desert and there was no water for the boat.  Noah just went on building the boat.

We had the opportunity during free choice play to play with some Noah’s ark and all the animals he put inside them.

Number:  We wrapped up our study of the number 2.  We practiced holding up two fingers.  We then waved our two fingers in the air.  Then we practiced counting 1-2, clapping our hands two times, stomping our feet two times, jumping up and down two times, rubbing our tummies two times and turning around two times and waving our hands two times.

During center time today we practiced our cutting skills with cutting out two apples a green and red apple and identifying their colors and gluing them on a piece of red paper.

Shape:  We continued studying about the shape of an Octagon. We reviewed today that an octagon has 8 sides and practiced counting the eight sides. We talked about how an Octagon shape looks like a stop sign and when we see a stop sign we need to STOP!!!

Letter: We are studying about the letter “E” this week. We learned about different words that begin with the letter E, such as Elephant, every, our Friend Evan’s names starts with E, excited, exactly, egg and emotion.

Our center activity allowed us to color a picture of an Elephant for the letter E and that should be coming home in our red folders today.   We also bingo daubered the outline of an Uppercase and Lower Case E

Color:  RED is the color we have talked about the month of September.  We started our morning meeting with identifying different objects that are red on our color board.  We had fun making a leaf with red paint in a Ziploc bag they are really pretty be sure to check them out in our classroom.

We also sponge painted different colored apples on a big piece of paper for an apple tree that will be hung up in our classroom.

We also painted with a wine cork to make red apples on a piece of white paper.

Music and Movement: We got stuck together like glue today, stung by a baby bumble bee, Flied into space like a rocket and found 5 little Ducks swimming in a lake.  We did head, shoulders Knees and toes, and jumped around a whole lot!

Outside Time:  Well God let the rain pour today.   So in between the rain coming we had the opportunity to go to the Commons and do a very cool obstacle course that was set up for the preschoolers.  Be sure to check these pictures out!

Patterning:  As we continue to work on A-B patterning we did a pattern today sponge painting yellow and green apples on a piece of paper.  I started the pattern with a yellow apple and the students completed the pattern from there.  Be sure to check them out in the hallway.

Enjoy our day in Pictures!

Ella playing a game of "I See YOU"

Carson had fun lining up all the construction cars in a row and then putting them in the correct spots on the board.

Evan was super proud of the tower he built with the blocks.

  Morning Meeting

Our last day of our Red Board, Good Bye Red Board Hello Orange Board

It was a wet and soggy day for Mr. Weather Frog!

Noah's boat is being built we learned that another name for his boat is an Ark.

We read this funny book about friends going on a Field Trip to the Apple Orchard.

Look how great we are doing at sitting at circle time!

 Transition and Circle Time

  Commons Time
Today we had fun doing an obstacle course that was set up for the preschoolers and we were able to take advantage of it and had a lot of fun with it.  Sorry the pictures are kind of blurry it was really hard to capture my friends they were super fast!

 Center Time
We started with making some red leaves in a Ziploc bag they will be displayed in our room next week.

We did an apple pattern of yellow and green apples

Sponge painting an apple tree that we will be hanging up next week

 Coloring Pages and Bingo Daubers

Cutting out two apples one red and one green

 Two Apple Crafts
We painted with Red paint and a wine cork to make apples on a piece of paper.  We also painted the top and bottom of an apple that had been eaten to the core.  We had to put the seeds on the inside with a black marker and painted green leaves for the top.

Today I played music from How To Train a Dragon soundtrack.  It has some really pretty music in it that is all instrumental. While it was playing I had a group of friends who really got into the music and started dancing and then became dragons from the movie.  It was really neat to watch them play and use their imagination and allow the music to take them to a far off land!

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY is what I heard coming from the window during center time.  Their song must of work because as we got ready for lunch they walked back into the room and were so excited to see that the rain had stopped!

 Music and Movement

Our last book of the day it was about this three silly chickies who said they would not like what they were going to have for dinner, but then ended up loving it all after they tried it.  Thought this book was appropriate for all the picky eaters in our class.

We had a fabulous day in PDO as you can see.  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend and look forward to seeing you all next week!
