Thursday October 09, 2014
Thursday was greeted with
rain and clouds once again. That did not
keep us from having a wonderful day in ROOM C!
Mrs. Linneman was out today because her little boy was sick, so Mrs.
Koieng graciously helped us out in our classroom. We had fun learning about our new color of
the month (Orange), number of the month (3), shape of the month (circle) and
the letter of the week (E). As a
reminder there is no school next Thursday, I will miss seeing all my friends
next Thursday and cannot wait to hear of your adventures during fall
break!
Jesus Time: Today we continued our story about Noah and this is
what we learned today….
Genesis 6
Many years later there were lots of people on the Earth, but
most of them were bad. One man-Noah-was
good. He obeyed God. “I want you to build a boat, God told
Noah. Noah started right away. People laughed at Noah because they lived in
a desert and there was no water for the boat.
Noah just went on building the boat.
We had the opportunity during free choice play to play with some
Noah’s ark and all the animals he put inside them.
During Center Time we painted a picture of an ark that next week
we will add some animals and rain to that will help us tell the story of Noah
and the Ark.
Number: Number three is what we are studying this month. We practiced making the number three with our
fingers this is good practice for our finger and hand muscles. We practiced counting to three and looking at
what the number three looks like.
During center time we had to match the numbers 1-2-3 on three
pumpkins, with a sticker. We first
counted the three pumpkins and then we used the stickers to find the number
1-2-3. After we made a match of numbers
we counted the pumpkins and colored them with an orange crayon.
Shape: We are learning about a circle this month. We learned that there is no beginning and end
to a circle and that we can think of many things that look like a circle.
Letter: We are continuing our study about the letter “E” this
week. We learned about different words that begin with the letter E, such as
Elephant, every, our Friend Evan’s names starts with E, excited, exactly, egg
and emotion.
During center time we to painted our hands gray to make an
elephant for the letter E in our alphabet book we are making.
Color: Orange is our
color of the month. So we spent time
during morning meeting identifying different things that were orange.
We painted a picture of a jack lantern today the color orange. .
Music and Movement: We sang the Wheels on the Bus, Clapped and
stomped our feet. We practiced singing
our ABC’s, Twinkle Little Star and Jesus Loves we did some jumping and
counting, and acting Silly during the silly dance contest. WE are also learning the finger play 5 Little
Pumpkins
Outside Time: Since the weather was quite crummy today we
were not able to play outside, so we went to the commons to play where we had
fun jumping and running, playing with hula-hoops and balls.
Patterning: We introduced
a new pattern today of pumpkins and leaves that we will work on more through
out the month today.
Enjoy the pictures from our day!

Block Building
I had not planned for us to get the big blocks out today, but my friends pulled out the shelf and asked and so we did and what happened was really neat to watch. There was lots of building of all kinds going on, sometimes we have to deviate from our "original lesson plan" and allow our students to lead and this is what happens….very teachable and fun moments!
Music and Movement
Despite the crummy weather today we had sunshine in our classroom with all the fun we had!
