Wobble Gobble Wednesday!

Wednesday, November 26, 2014

Today was our last day of PDO before the Thanksgiving holiday.  We had a lot of fun talking about all the fun things we can do or might do over the holiday.  We reviewed some of the “Thanksgiving” words we have heard over the course of the month to help us prepare for this day of thanks.  We read books pertaining to Thanksgiving.  We had fun finger painting on a large piece of paper; water coloring a picture of a turkey and coloring a picture of a cornucopia.  We were joined the Preschool classes as they had a “Frozen Dance Party” in the commons.  We had fun in the commons later in the day playing with our PDO friends.  We were treated to a special snack provided by Mrs. Horn of Vanilla Cupcake Goldfish, a half of a banana and some grapes.  We also enjoyed a juice box.  We had fun playing and dancing with our friends in our class.  We had a really great day and I look forward to seeing everyone after the holiday.  Please enjoy reading about our day and viewing the pictures.

Jesus Time: Today we talked about how thankful we are for our church our home, our family and for the food we love to eat. We reviewed about how the church is a place we can always go to to feel welcomed and loved.  That Jesus is always there to listen to us.  We also learned how thankful we are for the two awesome pastors that we have at Zion, Pastor Mark Rouland and Pastor Jason Reitz, Zion has been so very blessed to have such great Pastors help us learn about the word of God.  We talked also about how thankful we are for the house we live in that keeps us safe, warm and dry.  We talked about how thankful we are that when we walk inside the door of our home there is always someone there that loves us.  We talked about the important people in our family and we looked at a picture of my family today and I told them how important my family is to me.  We then talked about how thankful we are for the yummy food we have to eat and how thankful we are to have a table in a warm house with family all around it and food on it to fill our tummies with!

During our center time we colored a picture of a cornucopia with crayons to help us remember how thankful we are for the food we have to eat.  This should of come home with your child today.

Number:  We continued learning about the number 4 today. During our Morning Meeting we reviewed what the number 4 looks like.  We then practice counting our 4 fingers, clapping 4 times, jumping up and down 4 times, stomping our feet 4 times, rubbing our tummies 4 times.

Shape:  We reviewed our study of the shape of a cross at Morning Meeting as well.  We reviewed we can make a cross with our fingers and that it is made with two lines.  We talked about places we might see a cross.

Color:  Brown is the color for November.  During Morning Meeting we looked at what the color brown looks like and identified some brown objects on our color board for the month of November.

Music and Movement:  We had another great day dancing and singing.  We also sang our ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Jesus loves Me.  We really love the Silly Dance Contest and the Wheels on the Bus, jumping and counting!  We also practiced our Five Finger Play about some silly Thanksgiving Turkeys! We are getting really good at singing Jesus Loves me and will start learning Away in the Manger in the next couple of weeks.

We also joined our Preschool Friends in the commons today at about 8:45 till 9:15 for a “Frozen Dance Party” we had fun listening to the music for the movie Frozen and dancing with our friends.  It was something out of the ordinary and we are very gracious that we were able to join them for this fun activity.

Outside Time: We did not go outside today.  But as a reminder PLEASE BE SURE TO PACK HAT AND GLOVES WITH YOUR CHILD FROM NOW ON.  ALSO, IF YOUR CHILD HAS MITTENS THOSE ARE MUCH EASIER AND FASTER FOR US TO PUT ON THEN GLOVES THANK YOU!

Patterning:  We continue our pattern for the month of November. It is a little tricky at times but we are doing a great job with it.  We practiced saying the pattern and counting to 10.

Science and Sensory:  Last week for our fall items in our Fall Sensory Table.  We had fun exploring it and can’t wait to see what will be in there next month!

Enjoy the pictures from our day!
Water Color Painting of a Turkey as we listened to some classical music to the theme of Thanksgiving and Autumn.  I truly believe in the power of music and notice a difference in the class when I do not have music playing.  I also believe in exposing children to a variety of music.

.  All my friends made a special Thanksgiving treat for their parents be sure to check your child's folder for this keepsake turkey!

Finger Painting
What a great way to be creative and work on our sensory skills. We have had a lot of fun painting and getting down right dirty.  They have had a lot of fun finger painting and creating.

.Frozen Party
This movie has truly gripped the early childhood age.  If you have not or child has not seen the movie it is worth seeing.  It was amazing to see how many of the words my friends knew to all of the songs.  They had a lot of fun dancing and singing and so did I!

.It was also a special treat for some of us to see our siblings during the dance party.  Here is M.D. and his big sister Grace!

.  Big Brother Evan and Little Sister Kate. It was fun to dance with people we knew!

Special Treat
We had our very own Thanksgiving Feast it was a feast of goldfish, bananas and grapes with a splash of a carpi sun.  This worked out great today for our early release day instead of doing lunch.  It made the transition to going home much smoother and manageable!

 Free Choice Play
We had  a little time after our Special Treat for some time to explore and play in the classroom. we had fun playing with the toys and checking out the sensory table.  New and different toys will be in our classroom next week as well as new books, puzzles and fine motor activities.  The sensory table will also have something new and different to check out and explore with.

.  Our final book of the day was about our favorite Red Dog Clifford and how he spent his Thanksgiving.

.  As we head into the Thanksgiving Holiday let us remember to Give Thanks to the Lord for he is GOOD!  It is often hard for us to remember this with all the bad things we hear and read on the news and social media.  No matter what we need to remember that God has Plan for each one of us!

I give thanks to all of you and pray for many beautiful blessing on the Thanksgiving Holiday!
