Today was our last day of
class before the hustle and bustle of the holiday season begins. We spent today talking about Thanksgiving and
reviewing all of our areas today. WE
will start a new color (green), a new number (5) a new shape (triangle), new
letters (I-J) and the story of Christmas over the month of December. We had a great day today and had fun making
some Native American necklaces and headdresses.
Enjoy reading about what we did and looking through all the pictures of
how we spent our day at school.
Jesus Time: Today we
talked about how thankful we are for our church our home, our family and for
the food we love to eat. We reviewed about how the church is a place we can
always go to to feel welcomed and loved.
That Jesus is always there to listen to us. We also learned how thankful we are for the
two awesome pastors that we have at Zion, Pastor Mark Rouland and Pastor Jason
Reitz, Zion has been so very blessed to have such great Pastors help us learn
about the word of God. We talked also
about how thankful we are for the house we live in that keeps us safe, warm and
dry. We talked about how thankful we are
that when we walk inside the door of our home there is always someone there
that loves us. We talked about the
important people in our family and we looked at a picture of my family today
and I told them how important my family is to me. We then talked about how thankful we are for
the yummy food we have to eat and how thankful we are to have a table in a warm
house with family all around it and food on it to fill our tummies with!
During our center time
we painted a picture of a cornucopia with watercolor paints to help us remember
how thankful we are for the food we have to eat. This should of come home with your child
today.
Number: We continued
learning about the number 4 today. During our Morning Meeting we reviewed what
the number 4 looks like. We then
practice counting our 4 fingers, clapping 4 times, jumping up and down 4 times,
stomping our feet 4 times, rubbing our tummies 4 times.
Center time led us to making
a Native American Head dress. We got to
pick out four feathers to put on our headband that we decorated. We then got to count out four colorful
noodles to thread on a piece of yarn to make a Native American necklace. We did some great counting of the number 4 today. These should of come home with your child
today. They loved wearing the hats!
Shape: We reviewed
our study of the shape of a cross at Morning Meeting as well. We reviewed we can make a cross with our
fingers and that it is made with two lines.
We talked about places we might see a cross.
Color: Brown is the color for November. During Morning Meeting we looked at what the
color brown looks like and identified some brown objects on our color board for
the month of November.
We made a very special
Thanksgiving Turkey that your child had the opportunity to have their hand
painted. Be sure to look for this in
your child’s folder. It is something you
will want to keep for the years to come!
Music and Movement: We had another great day dancing and singing. We also sang our ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle Little
Star and Jesus loves Me. We really love the
Silly Dance Contest and the Wheels on the Bus!
We also practiced our Five Finger Play about some silly Thanksgiving
Turkeys! We are getting really good at singing Jesus Loves me and will start
learning Away in the Manger in the next couple of weeks.
During Center time we
colored and cut out 5 Turkeys and glued them on a piece of paper along with the
Finger Play of the Five Little Turkeys we have been learning about. This should of come home with your child today.
Outside Time: It was
chilly and cold, but we braved it anyway for about 15 minutes. We had a lot of fun playing outside it has
been awhile since we have been out so it was very nice change of pace. PLEASE BE SURE TO
PACK HAT AND GLOVES WITH YOUR CHILD FROM NOW ON. ALSO, IF YOUR CHILD HAS MITTENS THOSE ARE
MUCH EASIER AND FASTER FOR US TO PUT ON THEN GLOVES THANK YOU!
Patterning: We continue our pattern for the month of
November. It is a little tricky at times but we are doing a great job with it. We practiced saying the pattern and counting
to 10.
Science and Sensory: Last week for our fall items in our Fall
Sensory Table. We had fun exploring it
and can’t wait to see what will be in there next month!
Enjoy the pictures
from our day!
We started our day with a little music to help us set the mood for Thanksgiving and the season of Fall. We had fun playing with puzzles, drawing on the art easel with chalk and markers and playing with the big school bus!
.Evan was busy working the cash register for the friends to get on the bus!
.Susanna was busy creating a masterpiece on the art easel. Markers and chalk are always available to my friends. I am a firm believer in allowing children to explore and create and this is a great way to not only work on holding a writing instrument but to also foster that love for drawing, creativity and imagination.
.Evan went from taking money to get on the school bus to driving the bus. It is good to be well rounded and know all aspects of the job right!
.Nicholas was excited to show me his rainbow dragons that he spent so much time making.
.Susanna and Evan were busy driving all over town!
.Landry had a lot of fun doing lots of different puzzles today.
.Avery creating on the chalk board side of the easel
.The airport was busy today with everyone gearing up for one of the busiest travel holidays of the year.
.Emma enjoying a book or two in our book area. Looking at books is a great way to foster that love for reading and imagination.
.Sophia was excited to show me her creation of a cornucopia
