Happy
Veterans Day! To all those who have
served or are serving thank you so much for allowing us to be able to live as
freely as we do. We had a wonderful
Tuesday filled with lots of talk of Thanksgiving and the season of the
fall. We had fun playing with our
friends and we continue on working on keeping our hands to ourselves and
remembering everyone’s personal space.
Be sure to read all about what did today and view the pictures.
Jesus Time: Today we
talked about how thankful we are for our church and our home We reviewed about
how the church is a place we can always go to to feel welcomed and loved. That Jesus is always there to listen to
us. We also learned how thankful we are
for the two awesome pastors that we have at Zion, Pastor Mark Rouland and
Pastor Jason Reitz, Zion has been so very blessed to have such great Pastors
help us learn about the word of God. We
talked also about how thankful we are for the house we live in that keeps us
safe, warm and dry. We talked about how
thankful we are that when we walk inside the door of our home there is always
someone there that loves us.
Number: We continued
learning about the number 4 today. During our Morning Meeting we were
introduced to what the number 4 looks like.
We then practice counting our 4 fingers, clapping 4 times, jumping up
and down 4 times, stomping our feet 4 times, rubbing our tummies 4 times.
Center time led us to a
brown piece of paper with the number 4 on it.
Once we identified the number four we were given 4 Thanksgiving stickers
that we had to place on our paper in the proper spots. We then counted our 4 Thanksgiving stickers
and practiced saying the name of each sticker.
Using stickers helps us work on our pincer grasp, as we have to peel the
sticker from the sheet to the paper.
Shape: We continued
our study of the shape of a cross today at Morning Meeting as well. We learned that we can make a cross with our
fingers and that it is made with two lines.
We talked about places we might see a cross. Hopefully we will be able to make trip to the
church this month to find some crosses on the wall in the church.
Letter: The letter “G”
is the letter we are working on the next week or so. Today we looked at what the letter G looks
like and sounds like. We heard some
words that start with G as well such as, Giraffe, Goofy, and GO GO!! Gorilla, gorgeous and guitar to name a few
more.
Color: Brown is the color for November. During Morning Meeting we looked at what the
color brown looks like and identified some brown objects on our color board for
the month of November.
During center time we
painted a picture of an acorn to go with our brown squirrels.
We used a brown bingo
dauber to decorate a pilgrim and brown paper to cut to decorate a turkey.
Music and Movement: We had another great day dancing and singing. We added a new song to our ever-growing list
of fun songs. The washing Machine was
another silly fun song we did today. We
also sang our ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Jesus loves Me. We really love Jumping, Counting and Holding
our Breath! We also practiced our Five
Finger Play about some silly Thanksgiving Turkeys!
Outside Time: It was too windy and cold outside today so we
headed for the commons to play and run and burn off that energy we keep stored
up. After our commons time we took a
small walk around the school in search of crosses. We found some along with some other really
neat stuff. Be sure to check out in our
pictures what we found.
Patterning: We continue our pattern for the month of
November. It is a little tricky at times but we are doing a great job with it. We practiced saying the pattern and counting
to 10.
During our Center Time
we did a pattern of Indian and Pilgrims.
The students were given the pictures and then had to make their pattern
with it. They were given a piece of
brown paper and a glue bottle and had to place a dot of glue on the dot on
their paper and then glue the Thanksgiving picture in the spot. It was neat to hear the children saying the
pattern as they did it. We are learning
lots of Thanksgiving words ask your child if they can say pilgrim or Indian.
Science and
Sensory: We have had lots of fun fall
things in our sensory table this past month and it will be in the sensory table
next month.
Cutting: Today we practiced cutting a strip of brown
paper or two and then glued them on to make a turkey after we glued on the
brown paper we had to match the color feather with a bingo dauber to make a
beautiful colorful feathers! Be sure to
check them out in the lobby this week!
Enjoy the pictures
from our day!
Free Choice
Today we listend to another medley of Autumn Music to help us get in the mood for Thanksgiving. We had fun doing puzzles and lots of other fun activities during our Free Choice Time.
This book that Carson and Nicholas were looking at had all types of pictures and words in it. It was great to watch them get excited and say the pictures they could identify!
Puzzles are a great way for us to work on our problem solving skills and spatial awareness.
Painting and Acorn
Morning Meeting
Mr. Weather Frog was dressed for cold and cloudy day in the STL
We read this book last week but it is a great book that helps with repetition and animal identification, colors and sounds animals make.
Transition Time
Circle Time
Today we practiced putting turkeys in the right order from biggest to smallest we did this as a class a couple of times. This another way to help with our pre math skills and being able to identify size.
We practiced putting a puzzle together that looks like a Cornucopia. We also practiced saying the word Cornucopia that is a really really hard word!
For our color identification board we drew and Indian and the 6 colorful feathers to go on his headdress.
