ROARING INTO MAY!

Welcome to the Month of May

Well it has arrived the last month of school, how did the school year fly by so quickly?!?  We will be closing out this amazing school year learning about dinosaurs!  We will be learning about the number 10, the shape of a diamond and reviewing the colors of the rainbow.  Our Jesus time today was spent learning about Jesus rising into heaven after he came out of the tomb 40 days ago.  We had lots of roaring and stomping going on in our classroom today as we explored and played with the dinosaurs that have invaded our classroom.  We had fun showing off our crazy socks to celebrate the "WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD" and playing outside on this beautiful Spring day God has blessed us with.

REMINDER THE LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS WEDNESDAY, MAY 25

Enjoy reading about our day and viewing the pictures of our awesome day.

Free Play
We had so much fun playing with all types of new a different toys in our classroom.  Our imaginations are really starting to come out and shine.  We have had a lot of fun learning how to share and work together to make things work with our friends.

Bingo Daubers
Today to help us work on our dinosaur theme we used a brown bingo dauber to find all the dots on a brown triceratops.  Bingo daubers have been a great way for us to work on holding a writing instrument and to work on our fine motor skills. We are also able to work on our self control as we have to stay in one small area.

First Letter of our Name
My name begins with________?  That was the question that was asked to each friend today.  After each friend was able to tell me what the first letter in their name.  We used different colored stickers to put on the first letter of our name.  Using the stickers helps us with our fine motor skills from peeling the sticker off of one place and putting on another piece of paper.  We also were able to become familiar with the first letter of our name.  These will be included in our name portfolio's that will becoming home at the end of the month.

10 FLOWERS IN THE MEADOWS
Today we stamped 10 red flowers in the meadow to finish out our number books.  After we counted and stamped 10 red flowers on our page we used a green crayon to draw a stem and leaves onto our flowers.  Our number books will be coming home at the end of the month as well.

Morning Meeting

Transition Time
Today we were given a dinosaur to put on our name board.  We had to decide if our dinosaur was a flying dinosaur or a land dinosaur.  Some of my friends were able to identify the color of their dinosaur as well.

JESUS TIME
We began to talk about how after 40 days when Jesus came out of the tomb, he rose into Heaven.  We then reviewed the Easter story and had fun singing a few of our Bible songs.  We also have been working on how we pray as we have been all year long.

Music and Movment
We had fun singing 10 Little Dinosaurs, The Rainbow Song, and Shaking our Sillies out.

OUTSIDE PLAY
We had lots of fun playing outside today and enjoying the beautiful Spring Weather.  We had a lot of fun observing the geese that have taken up residence on the soccer field.  It was fun to watch them sit on the field and walk around on the field and close to the Early Childhood Wing.

WE ARE THE DINOSAURS
We practiced being dinosaurs as we stomped, roared, slept and ate like dinosaurs to a new song we are hearing and learning.

We then read a book about Dinosaurs and opposites for example small, tall, smooth and lumpy.  We also got to work on our roaring skills!

PAINTING DINOSAURS
We got to pick from a variety of colors, purple, yellow, green, blue, red and orange to paint a dinosaur. We all had different dinosaurs, be sure and check them out in our hallway as you go to the cubby rooms.

Playing with the Dinosaurs
We had lots of fun playing with the dinosaurs that invaded our classroom today.  Some of our dinosaurs had some tough battles today with other dinosaurs so they had to have some extra TLC as we had to tend to their boo boos and ouchies.

CRAZY SOCK DAY!
We started our last circle of the day taking one of our shoes off and showing off our silly socks.  We then had to find our matching shoe when our name was called and attempt to put it on by ourselves. Many of my friends were able to get their shoe on all by them self.  We then had to take our dinosaur off of the board and wash our hands for lunch

Before we ate lunch we read the book HOW DO DINOSAURS EAT THEIR FOOD?
We then talked about how we eat our food and if should eat it like some of the dinosaurs in our book ate their food.

We had a great day roaring into the month of May and starting our study of Dinosaurs.  Have a wonderful evening!
