Happy Tuesday!

HAPPY TUESDAY

I hope you all had a wonderful Mother's Day Weekend and you were spoiled by your little one's and family!  With Mother's Day now behind us time is going to be flying by super fast, it is hard to believe that we only have two more Tuesdays left together.  It has truly been a pleasure to wake up on Tuesday Mornings and know that I get to come and work with some of the greatest little people I know.  This year  has been full of growth physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentaly for everyone in our classroom.  We spent today learning more about Dinosaurs and exploring the classroom with new and different things to expeirence.  We continued our study of the number 10, the shape of a diamond, the colors of the rainbow and learning about what happened after Jesus rose up into heaven.  We were not able to go outside and play due to the weather but we kept active and busy dancing and moving in our classroom.  I urge you to check out all the neat things we have been doing in our classroom the past few months.  Our classroom has been decorated by your beautiful children and they have made it a beautiful classroom with their hard work.

REMINDERS

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 23, 2016
SCHOOL FOR THE 2016-2017 WILL START ON WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 2016

DINOSAUR PUZZLE
Today we had a huge dinosaur puzzle that we worked as a team to put together.  It took a lot of team work and problem solving to get it put together.  I am so proud of what a wonderful job they did putting the puzzle together.  Puzzles are a great way to work on problem solving skills and math skills.  They are a great quiet activity to do when sometimes our little friends need some down time.

IMAGINARY PLAY
WE had lots of fun playing and sharing with our friends today.  Playing and sharing with our friends has been a constant theme in our classroom.  Learning how to repect each other's individual space and time is something that we really work on and focus on in our class all year long.

BLOCK PLAY
We have really enjoyed playing with the small wooden blocks the past couple of weeks.  We have been working on our stacking and design skills.  Some of my friends are really excited to be able to stack numerous blocks before it falls over other's work on designing buildings and houses.  These blocks create lots of room for imagination as well as we are able to work on our fine motors skills, communication skills, counting skills, color recognition and having fun.

CUTTING SKILLS
Today some of my friends worked with scissors to cut some dinosaurs and then glue them in the correct order.  We have worked with scissors all year long.  Some of my friends have really come a long way in using the scissors many of them are now able to cut on their own, as some still need some help with the guiding of the paper and others are still working with a teacher using the hand over hand method.  We have been exposed to using scissors properly and I urge you to continue this summer with your child cutting with a pair of safety scissors and adult supervision.

NOODLES & CONTAINERS * FAMILY CONNECTORS
We continue to increase our fine motor skills as we practiced putting dry pasta noodles into spice containers.    We also worked with the little people to connect them together.  We had families, friends connected together and it was fun to see who they linked together at the same time we were able to work on our sorting skills, counting skills and color recognition skills.

OREO PUZZLES
We had and OREO Puzzle that we had to match each end of the shapes up to make a yummy oreo cookie! Another way to work on our math skills and problem solving skills

MAKING A DINOSAUR
Today we made some dinosaurs that will be displayed on the bookshelf in our hallway over the next couple of days.  We were able to work on our writing skills as we had to pick a color and color half of a paper plate.  After we were done coloring our bodies of the dinosaurs we colored their necks and heads. We then attached all the pieces together and added some detail to our dinosaurs.  We used stickers to work on our fine motor skills and clothes pins were used for the legs so we were able to work on our pincer grasp.   They are some really great looking dinosaurs.

FREE PLAY
It is so important for children to just play.  More and more research is coming out that children need to just play.  So that is what we do a lot of in our classroom, and even though they are playing so much more is being done.  We are working on our social skills, communication skills and problem solving skills.  Imgainations are starting to form and it is so much fun to watch my little friends play and communicate with each other.

MORNING MEETING
HAPPY TUESDAY!

We had morning meeting today.  We counted 10 calendar cards and we discovered that this was our magic number for the month, added one more flower to wipe off board to make 10 flowers.  We talked about the colors of the rainbow and the shape of a diamond.  We worked on a pattern of purple and yellow dinosaurs, sang our ABC's and read a book about different dinosaurs.    We worked on the first letter of our name as we put a dinosaur on our name board after our name went on the board.  Standing in line is something we have worked on all year long and we are doing a great job at it.

Jesus Time
We learned today about God's Spirit coming to help.  We were able to watch a video about God's spirit.   We talked about how we need to show God's love and spread the message of God's word to everyone we know.

Music and Movement
We had a lot of time to sing and dance.  We had fun doing some dinosaur songs and shaking our sillies out.
KITES
Today we used water colors to make some beautiful kites to help us learn about a diamond as well as work on decorating our classroom even more.  We were able to work on our cutting skills as we cut a piece of paper for our string on our kites we then glued on our bows to complete some awesome kites.  Check them out on our wall.

 BINGO DAUBERS
Today we had free choice on the bingo daubers as we decorated the letter D for dinosaur and decorated a dinosaur.  Bingo Daubers have been a great way for us to work on our fine mottor skills and pre writing skills.

COUNTING 10 DINOSAURS
We counted on 10 dinosaurs and then glued them onto a prehisotric scene.

WRITING OUR NAME
A few of our friends are doing a fabulous job writing their names all by themselves.  They are doing really learning the letters and following the dots on the line to make the letters of their names.

We had a busy and fun day in our classroom today.  Have a great evening and look forward to seeing you all later in the week.
