ALMOST THERE!

HALF WAY THROUGH MAY!
Oh my it is hard to believe that next Thursday will be the last time our Thursday Crew will be together. We have had an awesome year in our classroom and it has been so much fun to come to school on Thursday and spend time exploring and learning with my little friends.  Many of my friends will be moving onto Preschool next year some will be continuing on here at Zion and some will be going other places.  I am excited that a few of my friends will be back in ELP next year.  We have all grown this year and it is amazing to look back at where we started the school year and where we are today. Today we continued learning about the number 10, the shape of a diamond, reviewing the colors of the rainbow and learning about how we can spread the good news about all the wonderful things God has done for us.  We are roaring through the month of May learning about dinosaurs and enjoying our time together.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
LAST DAY OF SCHOOL IS ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 2016.

SCHOOL WILL RESUME FOR THE 2016-2017 on WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17, 2016.

Enjoy reading about our day and viewing the pictures of our time together.

NAME WRITING
Today we practiced writing our name using crayons instead of the markers we would typically use.  Our preschool program and elementary classes use the Handwriting without Tears curriculum in their classrooms.  One of the things that is discussed is to have a more control of the child's writing tool is to use a crayon which allows for the child to push down more to make a mark on the paper, where as marker does not requires you to push down very much to make a mark.  We did a great job today tracing the letters of our names with the crayon of our choosing.  We have been working on our first names since the beginning of April and many of my little friends are doing a great job with learning the letters.  A name portfolio will becoming home on your child's last day of school.

MY NAME STARTS WITH THE LETTER?
Today we used the bingo daubers to trace the outline to the first letter in our name.  The majority of my friends are able to tell me what the first letter in their name is.  Using the bingo dauber helps reinforce what the letter looks like and how the letter is made.

DINOSAUR PUZZLE
We had fun today using our problem solving skills as we put together a big dinosaur puzzle.

PLAY
We have been doing lots and lots of play this year and that is so important at this young age.  Lots of learning is going on while we are playing from social skills, communication skill  to problem solving skills and working together and sharing.  Through our play this year our imaginations have begun to emerge and we are working learning how to share with one another and respect each others space.  New friendships have been made this year and old ones have grown stronger.  Our younger ones have learned from our older ones and our older ones have had the opportunity to be leaders in the classroom.

FINE MOTOR SKILL
Today we worked on putting dried past into old spice containers and linking different people together to help reinforce our fine motor skills.

PAINTING A KITE
Today some of my friends finished up painting their water colored kites. They looked so beautiful and they did a great job using a wide variety of colors. They look so neat displayed on our wall in our classroom.  I will try and take pictures of all the classroom art this weekend so that you all have the opportunity to see what we have done this SPRING.

CUTTING WITH SCISSORS
Today some of my friends had the opportunity to use scissors and cut out two different types of dinosaurs and then glue them on the piece of construction paper.  We have used scissors through out the school year and have made great progress in learning how to hold them correctly, opening and closing them and cutting on a line.

 ELMO'S WORLD
Today we watch an episode of Elmo's world that was all about dinosaurs.  We learned what a person who digs up and studies dinosaur bones is called a Paleontologist.

WE ARE THE DINOSAURS!
After we watched the Elmo's World episode we sang and danced around the room to the song WE ARE THE DINOSAURS and had so much fun!

MORNING MEETING
Happy Thursday
(Look how much they have grown!)

TRANSITION

SNACK TIME

COMMONS PLAY
We were unable to go outside today so for a change of pace and to burn off some the energy we had we went to the commons to play with our other friends in PDO!

BINGO DAUBERS AND DIAMONDS
WE used the bingo daubers again today to work on learning the shape of a diamond.

D IS FOR DINOSAUR
Using the bingo daubers today we decorated  a letter D with the color of our choosing and a dinosaur.

MORE IMAGINATIVE PLAY

COUNTING 10 DINOSAURS
Today we counted out 10 dinosaurs and then used a glue stick to glue them on a prehistoric scene.  We have come so far this activity alone has show me how much we have grown.  All my friends were able to use the glue stick without assistance and glue on their 10 dinosaurs all on their own.

 WHAT COLOR IS YOUR DINOSAUR?
Today we worked on identifying the colors we have worked on learning all year long.  As we colored our different dinosaurs.

BOOKS WE READ TODAY
We have really enjoyed reading a wide variety of Dinosaur books these past few weeks.  Here are the books we enjoyed today.  Our friend Emma brought in a book about the ABC's for us to read as well.  Thanks Emma for a great book to read!

Jesus Time
We learned about Pentecost and how we as Jesus followers need to spread the word of all the wonderful things God has done.

WOW! We had an awesome day today.  I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and you all are able to enjoy time with your little ones!   God's Blessings to you all.
