What beautiful
weather we were graced with on Wednesday.
We had the opportunity to play on the “big kids playground” today and we
loved every minute of it. Be sure to
check out our pictures from our playground experience. Play is such important part of early
childhood and many times it gets mistaken as that just play but there is so
much more taking place, such as cooperation, sharing, taking turns,
communication, building relationship with others. We do a lot of playing in our classroom and
it is great to see how far we have come in the last seven months of
school. I am sure we will see lots more
growth in the last few months of school before our summer break comes.
With warmer
weather upon us we will continue all of our studies but we will also be
spending a fair amount of time outside it is important that your child is
dressed appropriately for the day.
Please make sure appropriate shoes are worn as well, It would be best to
put an extra set of shoes and clothes in your child’s backpack to be on the
safe side if accidents or if they get muddy occurs. It is also best if you make sure your child
has enough to drink during their time at school. We will do our best to bring drinks outside
when we head out to play.
Enjoy reading
about our day!
Jesus Time: This
week's Bible story comes from Luke 19 36-38 Jesus Rides like a King
The donkey started to clip pity-clop through the town. People came running. They threw their coats down for the donkey to
walk on. They took palm branches and
waved them in the air “Praise God!” they shouted. Some of them remembered what God’s scriptures
that said, “Your king is coming…sitting on the coat of a donkey.”
During center time we used our watercolor paints to paint a
picture of Jesus riding through the town on a donkey and people waving their
Palm Branches. These pictures will be
put in our portfolios that will come home in May.
Number: We continued to learn
about the number 8 today. We looked at
the number 8 and how it looks like to circles on top of each other. We counted our 8 fingers and then we counted 8
Shamrocks. We also counted our 8 friends
that we had in our classroom today.
During our center time we glued 8 different colors of the number
8. This activity allowed us to work on
recognizing what the number 8 looks like as well as worked on counting 8 number
8’s and we also worked on our color identification. As each number 8 was a different color. We are doing really well as identifying each
color. These are currently displayed in
our hallway on the way to the cubby room be sure and check them out!
Shape: We continue to
work on the shape of a rectangle. We
talked about how the door to our classroom is the shape of a rectangle. One our friends also discovered that our
bulletin board that Mr. Weather Frog is on is the shape of a rectangle.
During center time we had the opportunity to pick out our
favorite color and then cut out a rectangle in that color. We are going to make a big train to go along
with the book we read called Freight Train. We talked about how a rectangle has two short
sides and two long sides. We not only
were working on the shape of the rectangle, but we also worked on color
identification and our fine motor skills, as we had to cut with scissors. Some of our friends have reached the point
where they can cut all on their own.
Color: Yellow is the color we will be learning about in the
month of March. We placed yellow objects
on our color board today and each student was given the opportunity to help put
an object on the board during Morning Meeting.
During our center time we painted yellow rain coat that we will
be gluing on a person next week to go along with the yellow umbrella we painted
and glued on a on a blue piece of paper As the children came over the center I
would ask them what the object was and when they would use it. This project is
a progression project that will be completed this next week and hung up to
display.
Music and Movement: We sang Jesus Loves Me, and our ABC’s; we
did a few more songs we didn’t do quite as much music today because we were
able to get outside and play so much!
Outside Time: We went to the commons for a few minutes and
played then we took a walk through the main school building and then headed
outside for a walk around our entire campus that ended with us playing on the
big kids playground. We really got to
work on our gross motor skills as we were running, climbing, jumping, sliding
and walking. We had so much fun it was
hard for us to leave but we will be returning!
Patterning: We continued
to work on a new pattern of Shamrock and Leprechaun Hats today during morning meeting.
Two new words for us to learn and
become familiar with during the month of March.
We are continuing along our letter journey today we learned
about the letter M and N We painted our hands this week to continue our
alphabet book that will becoming home in May!
We also worked on the letters in our name mainly the first
letter as we traced the letters of our name with glue and then used gold
glitter to make them sparkle on our rectangle we had cut out for the train that
we are going to make to go along with our Freight Train Book!
Sensory and Science led us to talk about the weather today and
what we need when it would rain outside. We also had the opportunity to play
with yellow play dough and make all types of fun things with it.
We did lots of exploring, learning and discovering all types of
things through out the day in our classroom.
Enjoy the pictures from our day!

.Bingo Dauber Shamrocks
We worked on our fine motor skills as we decorated a shamrock with green bingo daubers. We have them proudly displayed in our classroom be sure to check them out! This activity is a great way for us to work on our self control in a small spot as well as prewriting skills and fine motor skills. As the year has progressed each child has gotten better in using these bingo daubers and improvement can be seen!
.Freight Train Rectangles
We picked out our favorite color and got to work on cutting out our rectangle so we could add it to the train that will be displayed in our classroom. After cutting out our rectangles we worked on the saying and recognizing the first letter of our name and then tracing all the letters including the first one with glue and then shook gold glitter on our rectangle to show our name! We are getting good at remembering the first letter of our name.
