Happy First Day of October

Welcome to the month of October!  We spent today finishing up our studies for the month of September and had fun playing and learning with our friends.  Something that we are really struggling with is clean up time.  We are all having a hard time after we have played so hard to clean up all the fun we have had.  Cleaning up is a big part of our program and we do it twice a day in our classroom.  Everyone is expected to help clean up and keep our room nice and neat.  This is something you can encourage at home as well.  We will work on this all year long and it will filter over into preschool.  Thank you for your help and partnering with me to make your child's early years wonderful and successful!

It is hard to believe that it is the last week of September and that we are on review week of our color, shape, number and our Jesus story.  We are officially into the school year and the end of the first quarter is sneaking up on us.  We have spent the month of September learning about the color red, studying the shape of and Octagon that has 8 sides, counting the number 2.  We have had fun learning about apples and the season of Fall and learning about the first few letters  of the Alphabet.  Our Jesus time has been spent learning about how God created the world in Seven days and what an awesome world he has created for us.  We have been blessed with some beautiful weather this month and hope that it continues through out the month of October.  We are working hard on learning the rules of the classroom.

Free Choice:  Today during our Free Choice time we listened to some music by the famous violinist Yo-Yo Ma and explored our classroom and all it has to offer us.  We had fun playing a variety of toys in the classroom.  This will be the last week for the toys we have in our classroom next week new and exciting things will be in our room to experience and explore.

Morning Meeting: We spent doing calendar, Mr. Weather Frog, reviewing our study of the number 2, the shape of an Octagon and the color Red.  Today instead of doing our color board we charted what we saw that was red in the classroom.    This week our letter journey has sent us to the letter E.   We continued to work on our red and green pattern of apples and we had fun singing our ABC's.  We read a book about piggies in a pumpkin patch .  We concluded with our snack prayer and washing our hands for snack.

Jesus Time:  Today we learned what God created on the sixth day, which was animals and people like him  and then on the seventh day he said all was good and rested.   When he was done he said that this was GOOD!  We began our Jesus Time with singing our Read the the Bible Song, we then read our Bible Story and then worked on continuing to learn the words to THE BIBLE and JESUS LOVES ME.  We concluded our Jesus time with the following echo prayer:  Dear God, Thank you for creating the world we live in in seven days and for keeping us safe, in  your name we pray, Amen.  We then played a Creation Matching Game where we had to match the correct day wit each day that God created.

Outside:  We continue to enjoy the beautiful weather outside and had fun playing with our friends and running, jumping and climbing.  A great way to help us burn off all that energy we have built up.

Circle Time:  We came inside washed our hands and listened to a story that we read last week about Dinosaurs Dancing but we loved it so much we listened to it again.  We then played an apple match game of large medium and small.

Center time we focused on doing the next few pages in our creation book that will becoming home in a few weeks. We had fun painting a piece of paper with red paint we were able to paint what ever we wanted.  We had some pretty neat and interesting pictures.
We also spent time today working on our number books that will becoming home at the end of the year.  Today we stamped one blue fish in the ocean and Two red crabs on the beach.  We also had fun using the scissors and cutting strips of red and green paper to glue onto an apple.  Some of my friends are working on just learning how to hold the scissors and others need help opening and closing them and a few of my friends are able to cut all on on their own.  This is a skill that we will work on a lot through out the course of the year.  Some of us started working on an apple pattern of red apple green apple.  Our center time takes us sometime to get through so if your child attends on multiple days they may not do all the centers on one day.  As the year progress' this will change and more centers will be done and added .  We also worked on making a pattern with apples, to help us work on what a pattern is and how a pattern works.  This is something we will continue to work on all year long. We also worked in our alphabet books and we continued our study of the letter E.

Music and Movement:  Unfortunately, we did not get to do any singing or dancing today, because so many of my friend had such a hard time cleaning up so we only had time for the story Little Red Riding Hood.

Enjoy viewing the pictures from our Day!
