Beautiful Fall Tuesday

This is our short week here at Zion.  There is no school on Thursday and Friday for PDO- 8th Grade due to parent teacher conferences.  PDO does not hold Parent Teacher conferences.  I have emailed you all at the beginning of the school year to let you know how your child was doing and over the course of the next few weeks I will email all of you to let you know how your child is doing.  It is hard to believe that we are into the second quarter of the school year.  We are continuing our study of the number 3, the shape of a circle, the color orange and the story of Noah.  Our theme of fall and Halloween is talked about through out the day.  This week we are learning about the letter G.  Be sure and check the foyer to see our center we did on Peppa Pig!
A big thank to Reese's family for the donation of bird seed, markers and two more chairs for our classroom!  We are very appreciative of our donations and it is what helps make our classroom even more successful!
Enjoy reading about our day and viewing the pics of what we did.

Free Choice Play
Today we listened to some fall classical music by a variety of musicians.   We had fun exploring the classroom and playing with our friends.

We love the new chairs we got for our reading area they are just our size and a great place to read a book!  We also had new books to look at this week, I always try to encourage my friends to look at books, it is a great way for us to work on how to hold a book, which way and how to turn the pages.  Reading to your child for 20 minutes a day can be a life changing thing for your child in the years to come.  Mrs. Wegener read a variety of books to our friends today during free choice time.  A favorite seemed to be about the weather, I heard her read that one several different times to some of the same friends.

Mr. Potato Heads
Carson loved building and making his own funny people about of the potato heads.  It is a great way to work on identification of body parts and where they go.

Orange Play Dough

Enjoying a quiet moment in the day.

BIRDSEED!!!
We had fun scooping up birdseed and pouring it into our bird feeders. We each had a turn to do three scoops of bird food into our feeders.  We were able to work on our hand eye coordination, scooping and pouring skills and our counting skills as we had to count to three.  We are now anxiously awaiting our feathered friends to enjoy our treat!

When we were done we had a little bit of a mess to clean up.  I asked my friends what we should do and this is what Emma and Carson came up with.  What a great way to help and serve in our classroom.

Cutting with Scissors
Today we continued to cut strips of orange paper into small pieces to put into our glass jack o'lantern.  We were able to work on our fine motor skills as we had to open and shut the scissors and then pick up the pieces we had cut and put them into the jack o'lantern.  Some of my friends were really into cutting today which was great to see our jack o'lantern is starting to fill up!

Painting an Ark
Today we painted a picture of an ark that will help us with the making of our Noah Books.  That we will be bringing home at the end of our Noah unit.  We talked about during our painting time that Noah was told to build and ark from God and that God was mad at all the people for being bad.

Morning Meeting
Happy Tuesday!

We talked about the picture we put up on our calendar today and we talked about some of the other pictures that we had on our caldendar that we had not seen yet because we had not been at school.  This was a great way for us to work on our vocabulary words.

Mr. Weather Frog

We had fun learning a fall flannel board game.

Our orange flannel board another great way to work on learning new words.

Our pattern for the month of October

The letter G!

Our Peppa Fans were so excited to read this book today.

Transition
We had to wait for our name to be called and then we got to put our pumpkin on our pumpkin patch.

What  a great pumpkin patch we have made!

Heading to wash Hands For Snack

Snack Time

Jesus Time
We are currently learning about Noah and how he built his ark

Heading Outside!
Its jacket season please be sure and send a jacket with your child each day the attend school we will be heading outside for a period of time.  Children are expected to go outside regardless of what they have to wear so please make sure your child is dressed appropriately.

Circle Time
After we wash hands and went to the bathrooms after we played outside we read a book(sorry no picture I forgot) about How Dinosaurs play with their friends.  We then practiced our finger play Five Little Pumpkins ask your little one if they can do any of the finger play themselves.  It is a great way for us to work on our hand and finger muscles.  We then played a color matching game where we had to match the right color acorn to the squirrells.

Center Time
We spent time painting a pumpkin that we will be displaying them on the bulletin board outside our classroom door.

Peppa Pig Project
We had to color a picture of Peppa and her family.  This helped us work with our pre-writing skills, coloring skills and color identification.  After we colored our picture we had three different leaves and three different colors that we stamped onto our picture of Peppa and her family.  As we did the stamps we counted 1-2-3.

Noah's Ark
We had painted Noah's ark earlier in the morning and during center time we used a gray marker to color some of the tools Noah would have used to build his ark.

Drawing a Circle
Today we practiced tracing three circles using a circle stencils.

Sorry there are no pictures from Music and Movement and final story of the day.  My phone died so I was unable to capture the last of our day.  We had a wonderful day and it is such a blessing to have each of our your children in my classroom.  Have a wonderful evening and beautiful Wednesday!
