Thursdays are my Friday of
the school week and a day I look forward to not because it is the end of my work week,
but because I thoroughly enjoy seeing all of my friends and watching them learn
and grow not only physically, but also emotionally, socially, academically and
spiritually. Over the past 6 weeks we
have established our routine and schedules and are becoming comfortable with
our new friends and are learning and exploring so much. It has been an awesome first six weeks and cannot
wait to see what is a head in the next 6 weeks!
Jesus Time: Today we completed the story of Creation with what God
did on the seventh day and then we reviewed each day of the seven days.
Adam and Eve
God named the first man Adam. God put Adam in a beautiful garden. He
gave him all the animals. He gave him all the fish and the birds too.
Then God gave Adam one more thing. God made a woman to be Adam's
wife. Adam named his wife Eve. On day Seven God rested from all His work.
We completed day 7 of our Creation Book. These books will be coming home in the next
week or so once they are completely put together. It is a great way for the children to tell
the story of creation.
Number: We continued our study of the number 2. We practiced holding up two fingers. We then waved our two fingers in the air. Then we practiced counting 1-2, clapping our
hands two times, stomping our feet two times, jumping up and down two times,
rubbing our tummies two times and turning around two times and waving our hands
two times.
Our center time activity led us to using a bingo dauber and finding
all the number 2’s on our paper and then
Shape: We continued studying about the shape of an Octagon. We
reviewed today that an octagon has 8 sides and practiced counting the eight
sides. We talked about how an Octagon shape looks like a stop sign and when we
see a stop sign we need to STOP!!!
Letter: We are studying about the letter “D” this week. Which
brought in some big Dinosaurs for us to play with to help us celebrate the
letter “D” We listened to some words that start with the letter “D” such as
door, doorbell, dinosaur, doll, drum, dance, donut and dragon.
Our center activity allowed us to use a bingo dauber and tracing the
outline of uppercase letter D and a lowercase letter d. We also had the
opportunity to color a picture of a duck that came home in our red folders
today.
We also worked on the next page in our alphabet books that will become
home in May. Today we painted our hand
green and made a dinosaur for the letter D
Color: RED is the color we are learning about the month of
September. WE started our morning
meeting with identifying different objects that are red on our color
board. We also made a chart of the
things we see in our room that are the color red.
We had the chance to cut red crepe paper and glue it on an apple
that is now hanging on our very full apple tree. We also had time to sponge paint different
colored apples on a piece of paper.
Music and Movement: We had fun jumping and counting. We did some soaring like a rocket into
space. Dinosaur Chomping, marching
really fast. Singing our ABC’s, Twinkle
Twinkle Little Star and Jesus Loves me.
Outside Time: Wow! God
has really blessed us with some beautiful fall days this week and we took full
advantage of them by spending time outside playing. We love to run, jump, climb, ride the cars
and scoop and dig in the rock pit.
Patterning: As we continue to
work on A-B patterning we did a pattern today of pink apples and red apples. I would start the pattern for them and then
they would finish the pattern by gluing the apples in the correct order.
Enjoy the pictures from our day!
Free Choice Play
Today's music selection during free choice play was from a group call The Piano Guys they play a variety of music. I believe in exposing children to different types of music, I also feel it helps create a feeling of peace and tranquility in the classroom. Each week we will listen to music of some sort during free choice play.
Block Building was a big thing today! It is great to see and watch them build and create things. This helps with fine motor skills, color recognition, counting skills and spatial awareness
Nicholas was super excited to show me his creation a city and house!
Morning Meeting/Transition Time
Today we graphed How many apples tall we were.
Outside Time
Center Time
We had a busy day today and did lots of fun things. Have a wonderful weekend and blessings to you all. I look forward to seeing everyone next week!
