It is hard to believe that
we are beginning the sixth week of school.
With that being said we have established our routine in the classroom
and all of my friends really seem to be adjusting rather well. It is so much fun to watch them play, learn
and grow. I am already seeing changes in
how they are playing together and how well so many of them are following
instructions. We welcomed another new
friend today and all my friends were very nice and invited him in to play with
them.
Jesus Time: Today we completed the story of Creation with what God
did on the seventh day and then we reviewed each day of the seven days.
Adam and Eve
God named the first man Adam. God put Adam in a beautiful garden. He
gave him all the animals. He gave him all the fish and the birds too.
Then God gave Adam one more thing. God made a woman to be Adam's
wife. Adam named his wife Eve. On day Seven God rested from all His work.
We completed day 7 of our Creation Book. These books will be coming home in the next
week or so once they are completely put together. It is a great way for the children to tell
the story of creation.
Number: We continued our study of the number 2. We practiced holding up two fingers. We then waved our two fingers in the air. Then we practiced counting 1-2, clapping our
hands two times, stomping our feet two times, jumping up and down two times,
rubbing our tummies two times and turning around two times and waving our hands
two times.
Our center time activity led us to a stamping two red apples on an
apple tree for our number book that will becoming home at the end of the school
year.
Shape: We continued studying about the shape of an Octagon. We
reviewed today that an octagon has 8 sides and practiced counting the eight
sides. We talked about how an Octagon shape looks like a stop sign and when we
see a stop sign we need to STOP!!!
Our center time activity involved us Octagon Man trying to get to
his Octagon house via an Octagon Path.
The path was labeled with numbers 1-14 we used red, green and yellow
star stickers to make our path.
Letter: We are studying about the letter “D” this week. Which
brought in some big Dinosaurs for us to play with to help us celebrate the
letter “D” We listened to some words that start with the letter “D” such as
door, doorbell, dinosaur, doll, drum, dance, donut and dragon.
Our center activity allowed us to have our hand painted the color green
to complete the fourth page in our alphabet book we now have added a green
dinosaur to our book. We also had the
opportunity to color a picture of a dog that came home in our red folders today.
Color: RED is the color we are learning about the month of
September. WE started our morning
meeting with identifying different objects that are red on our color
board. We also made a chart of the
things we see in our room that are the color red.
We also marble painted an apple red for our apple tree. We also read a book about the color Red.
Music and Movement: We had fun pretending we were dinosaurs
chomping, stomping, marching, flying and sleeping. We had fun Shaking our Bodies Down and doing
the Silly Dance Song. We also sang our
ABC’s and practiced singing Jesus Loves Me and our Read the Bible song.
Outside Time: We had a great time playing outside on this
beautiful fall weather. We actually did
two of our center activities outside so we could enjoy the beautiful weather a
little longer. We also go to watch the eighth graders launch their rockets they made in science class today which was really neat to see.
Sensory: We had fun in the
sensory table to playing with red and green pasta noodles. We had fun feeling them and pouring and
scooping them from one cup to another cup or container.
Enjoy the pictures from our day. !
Free Choice Play
Today during Free Choice Play we listened to music from How To Train a Dragon. I believe music helps sets the tone for the classroom and brings a sense of peace to the children and it also allows them to be exposed to different types of music at the same time.
Landry found his buddy Mickey Mouse and was getting ready to read him a story
Sophia and our new friend Carson had fun playing with the big dinosaurs
Play dough fun.
We love playing with Red play dough it feels funny on our fingers and hands and helps us strengthen our finger and hand muscles.
Sensory Table fun we love to pour scoop and dig with the red and green noodles.
Number Two
We had fun stamping two red apples on our apple tree for our number book. This is a great way for us to look back and see what all we have learned over the year and to help us with our counting skills.
Rocket Launch
The eighth graders at Zion built their own rockets and in the fall they shoot them off to see if how they built them will make them fly and how high. We had a great seat to see them be shot off. Some of us were a little afraid that it would be really loud but it wasn't. Some of the rockets went up really high others did not.
Morning Meeting
Mr. Weather Frog has some fall leaves falling around him as we head into the season of Fall!
For our transition activity at the end of Morning Meeting I asked the children to find something Red in the room when they found something and they told me what it was they found a Mickey Mouse to stand on.
Circle Time
Charting how many apples tall we are...
This activity we did after our circle time. Each student got to stand next to the apples and and then we counted as a class how many apples tall they were. When we got to the correct number of apples, we charted it by coloring in the appropriate amount of squares.
Transition Time
Each student was given the apple with their name on it when they heard their name they found a place to put it in the apple basket. After they were done they went to find a number Mickey Mouse to stand on to go outside
Look at how great we are doing standing in our line!
Outside Play
Center Activities
Because of the nice weather we took advantage of doing a few of our painting activities outside today

Patterning Apples

Name Recognition

Ending our Day with a Little Free Choice Play
