Welcome Back Friends!

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Break and were able to find time to celebrate this awesome time with your family and friends.  With us returning to school this week we only have about 2 months of school left so we will be busy learning and playing and getting ready to say good bye to many of our friends who will moving on to the preschool program at Zion or elsewhere.  If you have not registered for Preschool or for Early Learning Program for the 2016-2017 school year please come talk to me so we can figure out your options.  As we came into the classroom today we had some new activities to explore and try as well as some new toys to play with as well.  This month we are learning about the number 9, the shape of a rectangle, the color yellow.  We will continue on our journey through the Bible about the story of Easter.  We are going to spend the month of April learning about flowers, butterflies and the season of Spring.  We will be working on exploring the letters in our names and continuing exploring the alphabet.  We had lots of fun today playing with our friends it has been so neat to watch these little friends grow socially this year and they have all become great friends that all play really well together.

Free Choice & Centers
This morning we explored and played in the classroom with new puzzles and new block ideas.  We listened to music from Steven Tyrell who has composed lots of music from Disney movies.  We worked on writing our first name, making rectangle collages with yellow and blue rectangles stamps.  We stamped 9 purple Easter Eggs in a green Easter basket.  We worked on our cutting skills as we cute yellow paper to decorate a daffodils to help our room become SPRINGY! We had fun making butterflies and being creative with red and blue paint.  We also worked on our matching skills, color recognition and fine motor skills as we used bingo daubers to decorate a group of flowers in pot.  WHEW we were busy in our first hour and half in our classroom.  Enjoy the pictures!

Morning Meeting
Happy Tuesday and welcome back my little friends!

Transition
Today we had Easter Eggs that we needed to fill our Easter Basket with.  As each child was coming up to find a place in the Easter Basket we worked on the color of egg and what is the first letter in our Name.

Working on Standing in line to wash our hands (my friends moving onto preschool will need to be able to stand in line and wait for the teacher to go)

We had fun hopping like a bunny rabbit to wash our hands to work on our gross motor skills.

 Morning Meeting Components

A new month means starting the calendar over again.  This month we have different Disney Characters.  We identify the number on the card and who is on the card.  We are working on number recognition, speech and language.

Mr. Weather Frog
We dressed our weather frog for a windy, crisp, cool, sunny Spring Day!  Lots of our preschool classrooms chart the weather each day.  In our classroom we become familiar with what the weather looks like and feels.

Our studies for our month of April

Yellow Color Board

Our pattern for the month of April is flowers and butterflies.

We read a book about what happens to caterpillars.

Jesus Time
We read about what happened to Jesus after he was taken off the cross.  We also sang Jesus Loves Me and said a prayer for the day.

SCIENCE!
We are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly this month and we are learning a song to help us learn how it all happens.  By the end of the month your child will probably be able to sing the song for you!

Music and Movement
We had fun doing the freeze dance, the wheels on the Bus, the Colors of the Rainbow.

Outdoor Play
It was chilly but we really enjoyed being on the playground.  We enjoyed climbing, running and jumping and digging in the rocks!

Circle Time
After we came back in after playing outside and washing our hands we had time for a story about what happens to some of the animals when it becomes Spring.
We had fun playing a flower matching game on the magnet board.

We heard a new flannel board story about the life cycle of a butterfly!

Free Choice & Centers
We enjoyed looking at books and just enjoyed playing and listening to music by George Winston.

Music and Movement
This class loves to dance and are always asking when we are going to dance and being a former dance teacher it is hard for me to resist!!  So we did Five Years Old and Shake your Body Down!

Final Circle of the Day
We listened to a story about a small chick named Nancy and her being in an Easter Parade.  We then took our Easter Eggs out of our Easter Basket.

We had a wonderful day back and it makes me sad to think that our time together will be drawing to and end in two short months.  Have a wonderful evening and I look forward to seeing you all later in the week.
