Wednesday Early Release Day

Wednesday, April 13, 2016

What another beautiful Spring day God gave us today.  It was an early release day for our friends which always leads to a little bit different schedule and feel the classroom.   We had fun exploring, playing and continuing to work on our social skills and clean up skills.  We are spending the month learning about butterflies, flowers and the season of spring.  Be sure and check out all of the great art work and projects we have been doing in our classroom.  Our little friend Olivia is home from the hospital and is on a slow road to recovery, please continue to pray for her recovery.

Free Choice & Centers
We had fun playing with new yellow play dough.    Play dough is a great way for us to work on our sensory skills and to work on our fine motor skills.  We enjoyed listening to some nature sounds as different spring and butterflies popped up on our t.v. this morning.

We Love to build and play with trains

WRITING our NAME
We continue to become familiar with the letters in our name as we practiced writing our name.  This is just an introduction to the letters of their names.  A journal will come home at the end of the year to show you the progress your child has made in writing their name.

Painting a RECTANGLE that Looks like a Lego
Some of our friends painted a rectangle that looked like a Lego.  Later in the week we will work with Lego's and build some fun sculptures with them.

 Painting Fish
Today during our Jesus time we talked about how Jesus Helped the fisherman find the fish.  So during our center time we used our water colors to paint some fish that we will be helping to decorate our room with.

Today we had a big piece of paper put out on our table along with some crayons.  We were able to color and draw what ever we wanted.  This paper is going to be used to make some more beautiful butterflies to put around our classroom.

Spring Collage
Today we used butterflies and flowers to create a spring collage to help decorate our lobby for the month of April.  Be sure and check them out when you come into the Sonshine Center later in the week.

Coloring and Painting
Today we had to tell Mrs. Wegner if we were a boy or a girl.  We then colored either a little boy or a little girl with crayons.  They did a great job coloring their person.  After we were done coloring we painted an Umbrella Yellow that we are going to attach to our person we colored to make a rain scene in our classroom.  This activity allowed for us to work on our fine motor skills, pre-writing skills, color identification and awareness of gender types and weather.

 Dance Party
Sometimes we just have to go with the flow we had some difficulty getting everything cleaned up but once we were done some fun music came on and we just had some fun pretending to be butterflies with the music and some scarves that were donated to us.  We have been talking about the delicacy of butterflies wings so we practiced moving our wings quietly and moving them very fast.

 Morning Meeting
Happy Wednesday!
(these little friends have come along way with morning meeting time!)

Transition
We worked on learning the first letter of our name as we were called up to put our Easter Egg in the basket.

Jesus Time
We talked about what happened leading up to the Easter
Story, the Easter Story and what happened after Jesus had risen from tomb and how he helped the fishermen find the fish.

Music and Movement
We shook our sillies out, drove the fire truck, did the wobbly man, and sang the Rainbow Song.

OUTSIDE TIME!
We were so excited to get outside and play on this gorgeous.  We were able to run, hop, jump, ride and play with all of our friends on the playground. We had fun scooping, digging, and running cars through the rock pit.  It was a great way for us to play with the other friends in the other PDO classes.  We worked on our climbing skills and just had a wonderful time playing outside.

Circle Time
After our extended outside time that gave us only about 15 minutes before we headed home for the day.  So we washed our hands, went to the bathroom, listened to a story, sang the butterfly song we are learning and played a teddy bear sorting game.

A little more coloring
We had a few minutes to come over to the table and color on the table to conuitnue working on our butterflies for our room.

Early release days as I said at the beginning of the blog, create a different routine, schedule and mood for the day.   We had a great time learning today and playing.  Everyday is different and unique in here and we all walk away with learning something new and fun!  Have a wonderful evening.
