DANCE PARTY!

Thursday Fun!

We were blessed with some beautiful weather on Thursday so  it was a great day in our class to continue learning about flowers, butterflies and caterpillars. We spent the week reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and next week we will do some more activities revolving around The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  We had a great time playing outside and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Writing our Name
We have been practicing for the month or so writing our first name by tracing the dots that make up the letters.  We are working on recognizing the letters in our names and working on holding a marker to trace the letters in our names.  A small name portfolio will becoming home at the end of the year with the different things we have done with our a names this semester.

Bingo Dauber Art
This week we were given a spring picture with a butterfly, flower and sunshine on it that we were able to use the bingo daubers to create a beautiful picture.  The students were able to use different colors to make their spring picture unique and their own.  These are displayed in our hallway be sure and check them out.

Imaginative Play
I am observing this more and more as we move into the final month of school.  It is always so neat to see what they are doing and why they are doing it.  Amelia and Julija decided to have a picnic today and it was just so neat to watch two friends form a plan and go for it!

Pre-Writing Activity
We worked on holding a crayon and tracing a line from a butterfly to a flower working left to right.  When we were done tracing our lines we were able to color the flower that was at the end of the page.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
We first had to color the head of our caterpillar with a red crayon.  After we were done coloring our head we had to glue it on the paper and then we stamped 9 green circles to make our caterpillars bodies.  When we were done stamping our bodies of our caterpillars we glued on two pom poms for the antennas.  To help work on holding a writing utensils we then used a black marker to make legs on our caterpillar.

Stamping
We had fun stamping the first letter of our name on our paper today to add to our name portfolios. As we were stamping the letter to our name we practiced saying that letter as well.

Patterning
Today we used yellow and pink stickers to make a flower pattern on our paper.  We were working on learning the pattern, as well our fine motor skills as we had to peel the stickers of the sheet and place them on top of our flowers.

More Imagnative Play

 DANCE PARTY!
We had time after we cleaned up so we had a dance party!  We had so much fun just dancing and clapping our hands before we started our morning meeting which was great.  Sometimes a DANCE PARTY just makes everything just right in the world!  Sorry if the pictures are kind of blurry we were having so much fun!

Morning Meeting

Transistion

As we were getting ready to head to the bathrooms to wash our hands we worked on hopping on two feet.  Pictures are blurry because they were faster than Mrs. Horn was!

Today we counted 9 flowers for our garden and talked about the color of the sun in the sky

Our Color Board

Our butterflies and flower patterns

We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Jesus Time
Today we reviewed the Easter Story starting with singing Zaccheus and moving all the way up to when Jesus ate dinner with two friends and they did not realize that it was Jesus until the end of the meal.  We sang Jesus Loves Me, The B-I-B-L-E and we practiced how you pray.

Music and Movement
We had so much fun shaking our sillies out, doing the freeze dance, wobbly man and singing with Jimmy Fallon and the Sesame Street Characters

Outside Time
I am not sure what happened to all my pics of outside but we had a lot of fun playing!

After we came back in we read a story about Zoe's First Book of Season and sang our butterfly song and did our flannel board story about how a butterfly is happens.  After we finished we worked as a team to build a tower with small blocks.

After we were done using team work to build our tower we left the blocks out to play with and make our own creations.  We had some pretty terrific buildings going on.  We also had some friends who painted a spring picture using tempera paints and small paint brushes and other friends who painted with legos.

One Last Dance Party
They asked if we cleaned up quick could they dance and how can I say no to these sweet faces!  So we did and had a blast closing out our day.

The boys made up this new move?!?  Not sure what it is but they were seen doing it several times through out our dance party!

Some just wanted to sit and take it all in!

we finshed by reading this fascianting book about how you can find the each letter in the Alphabet on different butterfly wings.  It was a very neat book and was beautiful to look at.
