Wednesday Friends Welcome Back!

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Break and was able to find time to celebrate this awesome time with your family and friends.  With us returning to school this week we only have about 2 months of school left so we will be busy learning and playing and getting ready to say good bye to many of our friends who will moving on to the preschool program at Zion or elsewhere.  If you have not registered for Preschool or for Early Learning Program for the 2016-2017 school year please come talk to me so we can figure out your options.

As we came into the classroom today we had some new activities to explore and try as well as some new toys to play with as well.  This month we are learning about the number 9, the shape of a rectangle, the color yellow.  We will continue on our journey through the Bible about the story of Easter.  We are going to spend the month of April learning about flowers, butterflies and the season of Spring.  We will be working on exploring the letters in our names and continuing exploration of the alphabet.  We had lots of fun today playing with our friends it has been so neat to watch these little friends grow socially this year and they have all become great friends that all play really well together.

This morning we explored and played in the classroom with new puzzles and new block ideas.  We listened to music from composer George Winston. We worked on writing our first name, making rectangle collages with yellow and blue rectangles stamps.  We stamped 9 purple Easter Eggs in a green Easter basket.  We worked on our cutting skills as we cut yellow paper to decorate a daffodils to help our room become SPRINGY! We had fun making butterflies and being creative with red and blue paint.  We also worked on our matching skills, color recognition and fine motor skills as we used bingo daubers to decorate a group of flowers in pot.   We were busy in our first hour and half in our classroom.  Enjoy the pictures!

Morning Meeting
Happy Wednesday!
(I missed these cute little faces last week so happy to spend my Wednesday with them.)

Transition
Today we had Easter Eggs that we needed to fill our Easter Basket with.  As each child was coming up to find a place in the Easter Basket we worked on the color of egg and what is the first letter in our Name.

Look at how great we are doing standing in line!

We had fun hopping like a bunny rabbit to wash our hands to work on our gross motor skills.

 Morning Meeting Components

A new month means starting the calendar over again.  This month we have different Disney Characters.  We identify the number on the card and who is on the card.  We are working on number recognition, speech and language.

Mr. Weather Frog
We dressed our weather frog for a dreary, cold  rainy  spring day !  Lots of our preschool classrooms chart the weather each day.  In our classroom we become familiar with what the weather looks like and feels.

Our studies for our month of April

Yellow Color Board

Our pattern for the month of April is flowers and butterflies.

Since it was a rainy cold day at Zion this book about that silly curious monkey George was a perfect fit for a day.

Jesus Time
We read about what happened to Jesus after he was taken off the cross.  We also sang Jesus Loves Me and said a prayer for the day.

SCIENCE!
We are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly this month and we are learning a song to help us learn how it all happens.  By the end of the month your child will probably be able to sing the song for you!

Music and Movement
We had fun doing the freeze dance, Drive the Fire Truck, the Colors of the Rainbow.  We also watched a short video of Elmo learning how to fly on a windy day.

Circle Time
We had time for a story about all different things that are the color yellow.
We had fun playing a flower matching game on the magnet board.

We heard a new flannel board story about the life cycle of a butterfly!

Free Choice & Centers
We enjoyed looking at books and just enjoyed playing and listening to music from the soundtrack of How to Train a Dragon.

Final Circle of the Day
We listened to a story about a boy in and his bear.   We then took our Easter Eggs out of our Easter Basket.

We had a wonderful day back and it makes me sad to think that our time together will be drawing to and end in two short months.  Have a wonderful evening and I look forward to seeing you all later in the week.
