Lovely Spring Day!

Tuesday, April 12, 2016

What a beautiful Spring day God gave us today.  It was a little chilly the sun was shining it was a great day to be in our classroom.  We had fun exploring, playing and continuing to work on our social skills and clean up skills.  We are spending the month learning about butterflies, flowers and the season of spring.  Be sure and check out all of the great art work and projects we have been doing in our classroom.  Our little friend Olivia is home from the hospital and is on a slow road to recovery, please continue to pray for her recovery.

Free Choice & Centers
We had fun playing with new yellow play dough.  Mrs. Haun came in for a little while and played with our little friends and showed some neat tricks that she can do with the play dough.  Play dough is a great way for us to work on our sensory skills and to work on our fine motor skills.  We enjoyed listening to some classical music and light opera music.

Painting a RECTANGLE that Looks like a Lego
Some of our friends painted a rectangle that looked like a Lego.  Later in the week we will work with Lego's and build some fun sculptures with them.

Independent Reading
We really enjoyed looking a the selection of new books we had in our reading area.

SORTING BEARS
Today we began working on some sorting skills using colored little bears.  We had to sort them in different colored bears.

WRITING our NAME
We continue to become familiar with the letters in our name as we practiced writing our name.  This is just an introduction to the letters of their names.  A journal will come home at the end of the year to show you the progress your child has made in writing their name.

Painting Fish
Today during our Jesus time we talked about how Jesus Helped the fisherman find the fish.  So during our center time we used our water colors to paint some fish that we will be helping to decorate our room with.

Enjoying our Free Time
We love playing and exploring in our classroom!

Spring Collage
Today we used butterflies and flowers to create a spring collage to help decorate our lobby for the month of April.  Be sure and check them out when you come into the Sonshine Center later in the week.

Coloring and Painting
Today we had to tell Mrs. Wegner if we were a boy or a girl.  We then colored either a little boy or a little girl with crayons.  They did a great job colorng their person.  After we were done coloring we painted an Umbrella Yellow that we are going to attach to our person we colored to make a rain scene in our classroom.  This activity allowed for us to work on our fine motor skills, pre-writing skills, color identificaiton and awarness of gender types and weather.

Morning Meeting
Happy TUESDAY!

Today after we talked about the number 9 and counted the 9 fish on our board.  We counted and stacked 9 blocks to make a tower.

Our book we read today fit perfectly with our beautiful weather we had today.

Transition
We worked on learning the first letter of our name as we were called up to put our Easter Egg in the basket.

Working on standing in line like we are big preschoolers

As we got ready to wash our hands we had to flap our arms like butterfly wings.

Jesus Time
We talked about what happened leading up to the Easter Story, the Easter Story and what happened after Jesus had risen from tomb and how he helped the fishermen find the fish.

Music and Movement
We shook our sillies out, drove the fire truck, did the wobbly man, and sang the Rainbow Song.

We ended our music and movement with a short video about how a butterfly is made.

Circle Time
Our time during circle time was spent learning the butterfly song, reading a book about a bunny following his nose on a warm spring day and our flannel board story about how a butterfly is formed.  At the end of our Circle time we played a butterfly matching game.

Free Choice & Centers
We enjoyed playing with our friends and working at a few more centers.

Cutting with Scissors
Today we worked with Mrs. Wegner cutting pretty colored paper to decorate and make some more pretty butterflies to hang on our wall.

Working Together
This group of little friends plays really well together.  It is neat to see what they will do and what they will think up to play or do.  We are still really working on cleaning up some days this is more challenging than others.  When it is time to clean up I give them a 5 minute warning that it will almost time to clean up.  I then ask them to freeze their knees (they have to stop what they are doing, put their hands on their knees and look at me) tell them it is time to clean up  and then the clean up music comes on for us to get our classroom back in order.

Number 9
Today we had a flower that was color coded with 9 petals.  We then had to use a qtip to decorate each petal to make a beautiful rainbow flower.  We were able to work on our number identification, color identification and matching and fine motor skills.

We had a wonderful day in our classroom and looking forward to the res tof the week with my little friends.  Blessings to you all through out the week!
