End of First Week from Easter Break!

Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter Break and was able to find time to celebrate this awesome time with your family and friends.  With us returning to school this week we only have about 2 months of school left so we will be busy learning and playing and getting ready to say good bye to many of our friends who will moving on to the preschool program at Zion or elsewhere.

We had some new activities to explore and try as well as some new toys to play with as well.  This month we are learning about the number 9, the shape of a rectangle, the color yellow.  We will continue on our journey through the Bible about the story of Easter.  We are going to spend the month of April learning about flowers, butterflies and the season of Spring.  We will be working on exploring the letters in our names and continuing exploration of the alphabet.

We had  a rough time today cleaning up our toys and following directions.  We have been working on when we hear Mrs. Horn say:
"Freeze your knees" we put our hands on our knees and put our eyes on Mrs. Horn.  Today we had a hard time stopping when we were asked to Freeze our Knees and when we were asked to clean up many of my friends just decided they did not need to clean up and decided to just sit down on the stage.  For my friends moving onto preschool they will be expected to clean up when asked to so we are doing our best to work on those skills currently in our classroom as we have been all year.  Having your child help you clean up at home or having them clean up their own toys will help them out in so many ways.

Free Choice & Centers
This morning we explored and played in the classroom with matching Eggs and new block ideas.  We listened to music from composer George Winston. We worked on writing our first name, making rectangle collages with yellow and blue rectangles stamps.  We stamped 9 purple Easter Eggs in a green Easter basket.  We worked on our cutting skills as we cut yellow paper to decorate a daffodils to help our room become SPRINGY! We had fun making butterflies and being creative with orange and pink paint.  They are so very very pretty.  We also worked on our matching skills, color recognition and fine motor skills as we used bingo daubers to decorate a group of flowers in pot.   We were busy in our first hour and half in our classroom.  Enjoy the pictures!

Morning Meeting
Happy Thursday!

Transition
Today we had Easter Eggs that we needed to fill our Easter Basket with.  As each child was coming up to find a place in the Easter Basket we worked on the color of egg and what is the first letter in our Name.

We had fun hopping like a bunny rabbit to wash our hands to work on our gross motor skills.

Morning Meeting Components
A new month means starting the calendar over again.  This month we have different Disney Characters.  We identify the number on the card and who is on the card.  We are working on number recognition, speech and language.

Mr. Weather Frog
We dressed our weather frog for a chilly, sunny breezy day at Zion !  Lots of our preschool classrooms chart the weather each day.  In our classroom we become familiar with what the weather looks like and feels.

Our studies for our month of April

Yellow Color Board

Our pattern for the month of April is flowers and butterflies.

We enjoyed reading this book about Baby Duck who didn't like the cold, wet, muddy rain and what he got from his Grandpa to make the rainy weather fun!
Jesus Time
We read about what happened to Jesus after he was taken off the cross.  We also sang Jesus Loves Me and said a prayer for the day.

SCIENCE!
We are learning about the life cycle of a butterfly this month and we are learning a song to help us learn how it all happens.  By the end of the month your child will probably be able to sing the song for you!

Music and Movement
We had fun doing the  Drive the Fire Truck, the Colors of the Rainbow, Wobbly Man, Shake your Sillies out and Jimmy Fallon and the Roots with the Sesame Street Characters some of my friends really have some moves!

We had a busy first week after our long Easter Break.  We will be busy these next two months and I urge you to check out our classroom art all over the walls.  Each day/week new things will be added to our classroom to help us get ready to move on to the next school year.  I am looking forward to spending this Spring Season with your little ones as we continue and to learn and grow.  Have a wonderful weekend and I look forward to seeing everyone next week!
