Happy Last Tuesday of February

We had some awesome weather this weekend and it just didn’t quite carry over into this week.  Even though it was still quite chilly we took advantage of the pre-winter weather we are suppose to get to play outside.  Please be sure your child is bringing proper outerwear as the seasons begin to change again we will try and get outside if even for a few minutes. This week we are reviewing the number 7, the color pink and the shape of a heart.  This week we are studying the letter “W” and learning about the Bible story Jesus calling the Disciples.  We are really doing a great job playing and learning to share and move around the classroom.

WHERE IS YOUR CHILD ATTENDING SCHOOL NEXT YEAR?

If your child will be attending ELP next year please take a few minutes this week and register them for class.  Our program is starting to fill up and we would not want you to miss out on being a part of our awesome school!

FREE CHOICE/CENTERS

We are continuing to listen to a variety of Jazz music in our class in the morning.  Our class has been so calm and peaceful that this genre of music seems to really be working well for us!  We have been enjoying playing with the bigger Legos, threading big buttons on string, linking ladder pieces together and working on a variety of puzzles.  

Alphabet Books

We are working on the letter "W" this week.  See if you can help your child hear the "w" sound and what words start with the letter W!   

Patterning

This week we are doing a pattern of cupcake and hearts like our morning meeting patterning that we have been doing all month.  My friends are sitting down with me and I am handing them a glue stick and a container with the cupcakes and a container with the hearts and allowing them to do this activity on their own.  We are doing really well with all of our patterning work.  

Imaginative Play 

I can not stress how important play is in Early Childhood.  We are really encouraging our friends to play with the things in our classroom and with our friends.  This is how our friends are learning they may look like they are playing but they are learning how to communicate with each other, work with others, share with others, how to work as a team, problem solve and learn imaginative play! 

Cutting with Scissors

Today we were given six different valentine pictures that we needed to cut in half and then glue on a piece of paper.  We were able to work on our cutting skills as well as work on our verbal skills and problem solving skills.  These are hanging in the hallway be sure and check out how well we are doing with our scissor skills.

Transition

We are working on hearing the first letter of our names when our names are called and working on recognizing our name on our heart.  We will really start focusing on our name when we finish the alphabet and we start working on a name book.

Today we reviewed the color pink and all that we could find that was pink in our room

Singing the ABC's is done every day during morning meeting as we work on the letter of the week.  

Even though Valentine's Day is over we are still showing our love by reading books about being a good friend and showing God's Love 

Jesus Time

Jesus Called the Disciples

We learned about how Jesus asked the Disciples to follow him and how important it is for us to listen and hear God's Word 

Music and Movement

We are loving the videos we can sing and dance too.  We did a few songs this morning while we got ready to head outside. 

Outside Play 

We were outside for about 20 minutes and we had fun exploring and having fun and then we were ready to come inside and warm up! 

Circle Time

After we washed our hands and took off our coats we read a book about 10 noisy dogs and one little cat that said MEOW!  

We reviewed our Six Little Valentines Flannel Board Story and played a Valentine Matching Game.  

Free Choice/Center Time

We continued listening to a variety of Jazz music and working on centers throughout the classroom.

Painting a Heart 

We used the water colors today to paint a blank heart.  We were able to use our creativity to makes some beautiful hearts that are now displayed on our wall in our classroom.  Be sure and check it out when you stop in the classroom.  We have made a wide variety of hearts this month and we have decorated them so beautifully! 

Hard at Work Playing! 

Painting a Cupcake

Today to help us with the color pink we painted with shaving cream, glue and pink paint to make another delicious pink cupcake.  It was a much thicker paint so it took a little more work to paint our cupcakes today.  

Matching Games/Reading/Train Game!

Tissue Paper Hearts 

Today we had to glue tissue paper onto a blank heart.  This was a little tricky because the tissue paper was small and thin and could be hard to grasp from time to time.  Some friends did not like getting glue on their fingers and this is something that we worked through and we had some more beautiful hearts to had to our wall of hearts! 

Music and Movement

We had a little time to work on a little more music and movement and we had fun dancing and grooving! 

Transition /Lunch Time 

We practiced finding our name and then washing our hands and eating a yummy lunch!  

I LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE KIDDOS!   We had a great day playing, learning, singing, dancing, counting and being good followers of Jesus.  Life is precious hug these sweet babies of yours because before you know it they won't be so little anymore!   Have a wonderful evening and I look forward to seeing you all later in the week!
