I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine Weekend
and you were all able to celebrate with those that you love. We are very busy in the classroom this week
working on counting to seven, painting pink hearts, using our fine motor skills
to make a noodle necklace, working on our patterning skills. We worked on our cutting skills as we cut
purple paper to use as “sprinkles” on our cupcakes. We had fun playing a matching game and playing
with our friends in the commons. This
was by far one of the best Wednesdays we have had in our classroom. We were very active and busy which was great
to see.
COUPLE OF REMINDERS
WHERE IS YOUR CHILD ATTENDING SCHOOL NEXT YEAR?
If your child will be attending ELP next year please
take a few minutes this week and register them for class. Our program is starting to fill up and we
would not want you to miss out on being a part of our awesome school!
PINK DAY
Next week we will be wrapping up our study on the
color pink and we will be wearing PINK to school, if your child has something
pink in their closet to wear have them wear it next week to school.
SNACK/LUNCH
I have a few friends who are not bringing a snack and
lunch to school. We eat snack in our
classroom every day at about 10:00. Children
need to have a drink and a snack with their name labeled on each. We eat lunch every day in our classroom at
12:00. Each child needs a drink, and a
variety of foods to eat for lunch. WE DO NOT PROVIDE SNACK OR LUNCH
IN THIS PROGRAM. If your child
does not have a snack or lunch it makes this time very difficult for your child
and the teacher.
I HOPE YOU ENJOY VIEWING THE
BLOG TODAY AND SEEING ALL THE EXCITING THINGS WE DID! AS ALWAYS YOU MAY EMAIL ME AT HHORN@ZIONHARVESTER.ORG WITH ANY
QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS.
Free Choice /Centers
This week we are listening to some Jazz Music in our classroom during our Free Choice and Center Times. We have enjoyed doing a variety of activities today… from reading books, lacing big buttons, playing with play dough, building towers with blocks, playing with rice in the sensory table and working on our problem solving skills as we work on a variety of puzzles.
Alphabet Books
Working on the letter V this week. We are nearing the end of the alphabet and when we are done we will continue to review the alphabet through out the remainder of the school year. We will then turn our focus to working on learning the letters to our first name.
Cupcakes
Today we used markers to color the bottom of a cupcake, we used watercolors to paint the top of our cupcake and when we had center time later in the day we glued the pieces together on a piece of paper and then used purple paper to cut up to make "sprinkles" for the top of our cupcake. We were working on our pre -writing skills coloring with the markers, holding a paintbrush as we painted the top of our cupcakes. Our problem solving skills as we figured out how to glue our cupcake together.
Glitter Hearts
We used our hands and finger muscles to squeeze the glue on the outline of our hearts to make them all pretty and sparkly. We also put seven dots of glue in the middle to help us count to the number 7. These will be displayed in our classroom check them out on our heart wall!
Pre-Writing Center
We used a pink marker today to practice tracing lines that were a straight line, a wavy line, a circle and square.
Morning Meeting
Happy Wednesday!
Transition
We worked on hearing the first letter of our name as we placed our heart on our transition board.
Commons Play
We had fun playing with our friends in the Commons of the Main School
Jesus Time
We read a story about Zacchaeus today who really wanted to see Jesus but was to short to see Jesus in the crowds so he climbed up in the tree to see Jesus. We learned a new song today about Zacchaeus and we added that to our other Bible songs we are learning, Jesus loves the Little Children, The BIBLE And Jesus Loves Me.
Circle Time
We had fun using the t.v. to do a little music and movement we did the freeze dance and Hurry Hurry Ride the Fire Truck. We also danced to Elmo singing the ABC's, H-E-A-R-T (to the tune of Bingo) and an animal dance song
We read this book about Miss Spiders Friends getting ready for a surprise birthday party for her.
We did our flannel board story about six little Valentines.
Matching Game
We played a matching game where the cards were out on the table and each friend was given a card and they had to find the match for it.
Centers/Free Choice
The jazz music set such a nice tone to our class that we turned it back on to listen to.
Heart Pattern
We used red and blue stickers to make a pattern with hearts. We were able to work on our pattern skills as well as our fine motor skills as we peeled stickers off to place on the correct heart.
Painting White Hearts
Today we used a cookie cutter to paint some white hearts on our red paper. This was a great way for us to focus on what the shape of heart looks like and our fine motor skills as we had to hold the cookie cutter with our pointer finger and thumb.
Stringing Noodles
Today with Mrs. Wegener we had to string seven red noodles on a piece of red yarn. This was a good center for us to work on our fine motor skills as we had to put the noodle through the yarn and pull the noodle down. We also worked on counting seven noodles to put on the necklace. All my friends who did it this today did a great job completing this center independently.
Cutting with Scissors
Cutting purple paper to make sprinkles for our cupcakes we made earlier in the day.
Circle Time
We finished up our day with a book about a purple puppy who kept hearing a squeak and was asking all of his animal friends if it was him and come to find out it was his nose that was make the squeak sound.
What a great day in our classroom.
