Happy Half-Day!
Today was a shorter day for our friends in our class so things went a little differently. We had new toys, new books and new puzzles. We started learning about the number seven, the shape heart, the color pink. Our letter of the week is the letter "T"and our Bible story for the week is about Jesus being Baptized by John the Baptist. We are working on remembering that we need to help clean up the toys when we are getting ready to have Morning Meeting or Music and Movement. We had fun painting a pink heart, using bingo daubers decorate hearts of different colors, worked on our patterning skills by doing a pattern of a puppy dog and heart, putting valentine stickers on the number 7 and had fun having our hand traced to make a dove to help us remember that God spoke to Jesus after he was baptized.
COUPLE OF REMINDERS
Valentines
We will pass out valentines to our friends at school on
Tuesday, February 9, Wednesday February 10 and Thursday February 11. Emails went out last week with the names of
the students for each day. We will be
making Valentine boxes for our valentines to be placed in. Please
do not send in any candy on the valentines you may attach stickers or pencils
but NO CANDY!
REGISTRATION
Currently, our preschool program is completely filled.
If you have yet to register your child for preschool next year, please come
talk to me so we may discuss the next steps you need to make for your child
next year at Zion. Our ELP (formerly
PDO) still has openings but is beginning to fill up as well, if your child will
be attending ELP next year, I urge you to register soon. We at Zion are completely overwhelmed with
how fast our Early Childhood Program has filled up!
Free Choice/Centers
We listened to a variety of classical music this morning to help us relax and explore the classroom with all that it had to offer. We are really working on our sharing skills and not just taking toys out of our friends hands, but rather asking if they can have that toy and waiting their turn to have the toy. This is something that we really see more of the second semester of school and focus more time on as many of us are getting ready to head to Preschool in the Fall.
Kate enjoys looking at a new book filled with lots of different princess. Books are something that we always have available for our friends to read and look at.
The boys were excited to see new toys and cars to play with this morning.
New Puzzles
We enjoyed using our problem solving skills to work on some new puzzles in our classroom.
PINK PLAY DOUGH
We have enjoyed the return of play dough. We made lots of heart shapes this morning as we worked on using our finger muscles to roll the play dough out.
