I hope everyone enjoyed their Valentine Weekend
and you were all able to celebrate with those that you love. We are very busy in the classroom this week
working on counting to seven, painting pink hearts, using our fine motor skills
to make a noodle necklace, working on our patterning skills. We worked on our cutting skills as we cut
purple paper to use as “sprinkles” on our cupcakes. We had fun playing a matching game and
playing with our friends in the commons.
I cannot say it enough how much fun this class is. They were a very busy group today lots and
lots of imaginative play taking place, which is so wonderful to hear and
observe!

Free Choice/Centers
Jazz Music was our choice of music this week. It set a great tone to our classroom and it made for an awesome week in our class!
Alphabet Books
We are heading to the end of our alphabet soon. Today we worked on the letter V. We talked about some words that begin with V like vegetables, violin and vacuum. When we have completed the entire alphabet we will continue to review the letters and will start focusing on the letters in our first names.
Cupcakes
Today we used markers to color the bottom of a cupcake, we used watercolors to paint the top of our cupcake and when we had center time later in the day we glued the pieces together on a piece of paper and then used purple paper to cut up to make "sprinkles" for the top of our cupcake. We were working on our pre -writing skills coloring with the markers, holding a paintbrush as we painted the top of our cupcakes. Our problem solving skills as we figured out how to glue our cupcake together.
Pre-Writing Center
We used a pink marker today to practice tracing lines that were a straight line, a wavy line, a circle and square.
Painting White Hearts
Today we used a cookie cutter to paint some white hearts on our red paper. This was a great way for us to focus on what the shape of heart looks like and our fine motor skills as we had to hold the cookie cutter with our pointer finger and thumb.
Glitter Hearts
We used our hands and finger muscles to squeeze the glue on the outline of our hearts to make them all pretty and sparkly. We also put seven dots of glue in the middle to help us count to the number 7. These will be displayed in our classroom check them out on our heart wall!
Morning Meeting
Happy Thursday!
We dressed Mr. Weather Frog for some sunshine and hopefully a little warmer weather today!
Letter "V" and singing our ABC's
We are working on our pattern and trying to say the word Cupcake many of my friends say pupcake.
Oh Peppa we LOVE LOVE LOVE PEPPA! I have never seen a group sit so still to listen to a story!
Jesus Time
We read a story about Zacchaeus today who really wanted to see Jesus but was to short to see Jesus in the crowds so he climbed up in the tree to see Jesus. We learned a new song today about Zacchaeus and we added that to our other Bible songs we are learning, Jesus loves the Little Children, The BIBLE And Jesus Loves Me.
Circle Time
We read a story set to the same tune as Itsy Bitsy Spider but it was about a snowman.
Music and Movement
We had fun dancing for a really long time today doing a wide variety of songs and dances
We did our flannel board story about six little Valentines.
Matching Game
We played a matching game where the cards were out on the table and each friend was given a card and they had to find the match for it.
Free Choice and Centers
We are really digging the new blocks we had in our classroom today!
Stringing Noodles
Today with Mrs. Wegener we had to string seven red noodles on a piece of red yarn. This was a good center for us to work on our fine motor skills as we had to put the noodle through the yarn and pull the noodle down. We also worked on counting seven noodles to put on the necklace. All my friends who did it this today did a great job completing this center independently.
Cutting with Scissors
Cutting purple paper to make sprinkles for our cupcakes we made earlier in the day.
Heart Pattern
We used red and blue stickers to make a pattern with hearts. We were able to work on our pattern skills as well as our fine motor skills as we peeled stickers off to place on the correct heart.
Counting 7 Cupcakes
We made a book today where each page had a different number of cupcakes we had to glue on our page. This was a good activity for us to work on our number recognition and our counting skills. These books will come home this week after your child completes this center
Circle Time
We finished up our day with a book by Doc McStuffins and her huggy Valentine.
Transition
We worked on hearing the first letter of our name as we placed our heart on our transition board.
Awesome Awesome day! We had so much fun playing and learning together! Can not wait to see what we do next week!
