Wow! What
a difference a few days can make in St. Louis this past weekend we were outside
playing and had the windows opened at our house and this morning there was snow
on the ground and school closings all over the news. Zion was open and we were here working hard
as we do every day! Today a few of our
friends were not here and we prayed that they got better and stayed warm and
safe at their homes. We ended this last
Wednesday in February with us reviewing the number 7, the color pink, and the
shape of a heart. Learning about the
letter “W” and hearing about how Jesus Called the Disciples. We are working a lot on play (playing with
toys and friends). Play is an important
part of our early childhood program and we are strongly encouraging our friend
to play this is how they do the majority of their learning at this age.

Free Choice/Centers
We started our day listening to jazz music and working around the classroom doing various activities. Some of us were playing with friends, others spent time reading books and others worked at centers that Mrs. Wegener and I had set up at the tables.
Patterning
This week we are doing a pattern of cupcake and hearts like our morning meeting patterning that we have been doing all month. My friends are sitting down with me and I am handing them a glue stick and a container with the cupcakes and a container with the hearts and allowing them to do this activity on their own. We are doing really well with all of our patterning work.
Alphabet Books
We are working on the letter "W" this week. See if you can help your child hear the "w" sound and what words start with the letter W!
Cutting with Scissors
Today we were given six different valentine pictures that we needed to cut in half and then glue on a piece of paper. We were able to work on our cutting skills as well as work on our verbal skills and problem solving skills. These are hanging in the hallway be sure and check out how well we are doing with our scissor skills.
Morning Meeting
Happy Wednesday!
Studies Board
Pink Board
February Patterns
Letter W and the ABC's
We really enjoyed reading this book.
Transition
We are working on hearing the first letter of our names when our names are called and working on recognizing our name on our heart. We will really start focusing on our name when we finish the alphabet and we start working on a name book
Jesus Time
Jesus Called the Disciples
We learned about how Jesus asked the Disciples to follow him and how important it is for us to listen and hear God's Word
Music and Movement
We are loving the videos we can sing and dance too.
Circle Time
We read a book about baby animals and who there mom's were.
We reviewed our Six Little Valentines Flannel Board Story and played a Valentine Matching Game.
Free Choice/Centers
Classical Music was our choice for this time of the day.
Tissue Paper Hearts
Today we had to glue tissue paper onto a blank heart. This was a little tricky because the tissue paper was small and thin and could be hard to grasp from time to time. Some friends did not like getting glue on their fingers and this is something that we worked through and we had some more beautiful hearts to had to our wall of hearts!
Painting a Cupcake
Today to help us with the color pink we painted with shaving cream, glue and pink paint to make another delicious pink cupcake. It was a much thicker paint so it took a little more work to paint our cupcakes today.
Painting a Heart
We used the water colors today to paint a blank heart. We were able to use our creativity to makes some beautiful hearts that are now displayed on our wall in our classroom. Be sure and check it out when you stop in the classroom. We have made a wide variety of hearts this month and we have decorated them so beautifully!
Valentine Vocabulary
Today we work on our words and colors as we glued different pictures down on a piece of paper. We had fun laughing at some of the silly pictures we had glued down on our paper.
We had a busy day in our classroom. It was fun to watch and observe my friends playing with each other. Stay warm, dry and blessings to you all on a wonderful warm evening.
