What another beautiful Fall Day we had today! Today we had a fire drill after our outside time. We have had one previous to this one where someone came through the building and said we are having a fire drill and we had to exit the building quickly. Today, the alarm was pulled and we had to exit the classroom and building quickly. Our little friends did an amazing job, it was a very loud, scary noise and my friends listened and did what we needed to do and all with no tears! Some of us were frightened and were afraid to go back in the building because of the "loud scary noise" but we assured them it was gone and we finished out our day with flying colors!
Free Choice: Today we had the opportunity to play with the blue play dough (our red play dough had seen better days so we switched back to our blue we still had) and to explore the classroom as we listened to a selection of different Disney soundtrack songs. A lot of my friends had fun playing with the toys, exploring in the sensory table and using the magnet board. The trains were a hot ticketed toy today and I see a train theme in our future.
Morning Meeting: We spent doing calendar, Mr. Weather Frog, continuing our study of the number 2, the shape of an Octagon and the color Red. This week our letter journey has sent us to the letter C. We continued to work on our red and green pattern of apples and we had fun singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and our ABC's. We then read a book about the season of fall that tied into our theme of apples and fall and we concluded with our snack prayer and putting our apple with our name on it on the basket.
Jesus Time: Today we learned what God created on the third day he created the dry lands and the trees, plants and flowers. He created so many that you could not possibly begin to count them all. When he was done he said that this was GOOD! We began our Jesus Time with singing our Read the the Bible Song, we then read our Bible Story and then worked on continuing to learn the words to THE BIBLE and JESUS LOVES ME. We concluded our Jesus time with the following echo prayer: Dear God, Thank you for the dry lands, the flowers and the plants. In your name we pray, Amen. We then played a Creation Matching Game where we had to match the correct day wit each day that God created.
Outside: We were able to get outside and play fro about 30 minutes and we were busy running, jumping, climbing, riding and getting dirty!
Circle Time: We read a book about our favorite red dog Clifford. This book was a touch and feel book which was a great way to discuss how different things feel. This book was great also to help us learn more about the color red. After our book we played and apple matching game and listened to a flannel board story that talked about an apple and his emotions. Ask your child if they can make, happy, sad and mad faces. Emotions are something we will explore and touch on through out the year.
Center time we focused on using bingo daubers to trace the outline of an octagon, we had fun coloring a picture of Cookie Monster holding a cake for the letter c and to work on our pre-writing skills. We moved ahead in our Alphabet books as we used bingo daubers to finish up the letter C for Crab. Alphabet books will come home at the end of the school year. We also had fun painting a picture of Elmo and making a face with 2 eyes on it to help us with the number 2. We also worked on the third day in our Creation Books we had fun cutting green paper and placing flowered stickers for the land and flowers that God created on Day 3.
Music and Movement we had fun , learning a new song about There will always be Sunshine and Jumping and Counting. We had a request for Bringing Home a Baby Bumble Bee and for Five Days Old. After we jumped and danced till our hearts content, we finished up our music and movement with the book Llama Llama Red Pajamas . We then prayed for lunch and lined up on the Mickey Mouses.
