We had a chilly and very cold start to our week
in Room C! We had fun reading books that
were associated with winter. It was
great that it had snowed a little over the weekend so that we could help tie
that into our theme of learning about winter and penguins. It was way too cold for us to venture outside
today so we stayed in our classroom today and had extra music and movement
time. My friends had a great time during
our free choice time and center time using their imaginations. Zion Bobcat Airlines was the way to commute
today in our classroom. It was so great
to see how they worked together and came up with their own design and how to
get where they wanted to go. I was
excited that I got to be the pilot of Zion Bobcat Airlines and was able to land
us safe and sound as we had a room to clean up!

Imaginations at Work!
Letter Q
Today we worked on the letter Q in our Alphabet books. Q words were hard to come up with but we did a great job making the Q sound. Alphabet books will come home at the end of the school year.
PENGUINS
Today we used circle stickers to help decorate a penguin. We used black stickers for the penguins feathers, white feathers for their tummies and orange feathers for their feet. This center allowed us to work on our fine motor skills as we had to place the stickers in the correct area and hold the stickers in our fingers. We also worked on our color matching skills of orange, black and white. We also were able to incorporate the number 6 we are studying about into placing the 6 black stickers onto the feathers of our penguins.
Morning Meeting
Happy Tuesday!
Our calendar for the month of January. We talked about the numbers 1 and 2 to make the number 12 and that today the square was green.
Mr. Weather Frog was ready for the very cold cold weather we had today. We notice that Mr. Weather Frog had made a Snow Frog and we talked about who went out and played in the snow over the weekend and made their own snowman.
Our Study Board for January
Our White Color Board
Our pattern for the month of January
Letter Q and singing our ABC's
We read this book about what Polar Bears Do
We are continuing with the same prayer we did in December
Transition & Snack Time
This month we are putting star stickers on a piece of paper. We are waiting for our name to be called and then we have to identify the color of the star and then place it on the board. This activity is helping us with our listening skills, following directions and color identification. We are also working on our fine motor skills as we have to place the sticker onto the paper
We enjoyed our delicious snacks. Reminders that we need to have a drink that is labeled and a peanut free snack to enjoy with our friends.
Jesus Time
Today we reviewed the Christmas Story and then read what happened to Jesus after the Wise men visited him and brought him three gifts. We found out that some bad people wanted to hurt Jesus, so his mom Mary and Dad Joseph had to travel to Egypt to stay safe. We also sang Jesus Loves Me and the B-I-B-L-E and said the following echo prayer Dear God, Thank you for the birth of your son Jesus in your name we pray. Amen.
MUSIC AND MOVEMENT
We had fun shaking our bodies down and getting a little wild and crazy!
We did the Bear Hunt on the T.V. it was great way for us to hear, see and interact with the t.v.
A little Head Shoulders Knees and Toes
Circle Time
UGG my phone went down during Circle Time we read a book about a Bear getting ready for winter and heard our 6 Little Penguins Flannel Board Story.
Transition
We put more stickers on our Sticker Board
CENTERS & FREE TIME
We had fun building with the big blocks. Lots of towers and buildings were made and knocked down!
Julija was a big helper and helped clean out the sensory table and put it all in a box so we could put something new and different into our sensory table.
COLORING PENGUINS
Today we used our crayons to color a scene with three penguins on it. We worked on holding our crayon, using different colors and working on staying inside the lines. These are hanging in our hallway be sure and check them out.
Decorating Snowflakes
Today we decorated snowflakes with bingo dauber to makes some beautiful snowflakes for our wall. Be sure and check them out in the kitchen area of our classroom. Using the bingo daubers was a lot of fun we got to choose which colors we wanted to use and we ended up with some very beautiful snowflakes.
Julija helped match up all the lids.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Today with Mrs. Wegener we stamped 6 yellow stars on a piece of paper to help us count 1 to 6. We sing the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star every day and so many of our friends were able to sing the song when they were working at this center.
Cutting up a Big Snow Storm
Today we cut white strips of paper to make a snow storm. Cutting with scissors is an activity that we do every week. Learning how to hold the scissors and open and close them gives them a little push for them to be be prepared for preschool. We did a great job using the scissors to day and you can check out our snow storms in the hallway.
ZION BOBCAT AIRLINE
Today the children made an airplane out of the chairs. This was done all on their own and they took ownership for how it was done. It was so neat to watch how it evolved over our center time. When it was time to end our center time they were not having any of it. So I told them that a "special" pilot was going to help land the plane, Pilot Horn came over the intercom and thanked the passengers for flying ZION BOBCAT AIRLINES and that we would be making our descent soon and we hope they had a great flight with us and would come fly with us again soon. We made it to our destination ROOM C and clean up took over! What a great way to end our day and our time together.
