Good-Bye Olivia Royale

Thursday, January 14, 2016

Today was the last day for one of our little friends.  Olivia Royale will not be returning after today her family on Saturday will be moving to the state of Washington.  Please keep her family in your prayers as they move across the country and get settled into a new house and community.  We will miss Olivia in our class on Tuesdays and Thursdays best of luck to her family on their new adventure.  Our class was a little on the small side today as we had some friends out sick, please keep them in your prayers as well that they get better soon and are able to return to school next week.  We had lots of coughing, sneezing and runny noses in our class today, please help us keep our germs to a minimum by helping your little one wash hands and keep nosed wiped.  We had a great time in our class even though we were on the smaller side.  We went to the commons to play today with our other friends, even though it was nice and warm out we could not play outside because the ground was so wet and muddy from the melting snow.  We also had a special visitor today, Mrs. Linneman came in and subbed for Mrs. Wegener for part of the day.  Mrs. Wegener's daughter was not feeling well and had a doctors appointment today, so thank you Mrs. Linneman for helping us out and prayers to Mrs. Wegener's daughter that she feels better soon.

We had fun scooping and pouring and running our cars and trucks through the rice in our sensory table.

Puzzles
We had fun figuring out different puzzles.

Tower Building
Joseph and Carson worked reallly hard to build a very tall tower!

Magnet Board
We had fun playing with the letter magnets on the magnet board.

 Letter Q
Today we worked on the letter Q in our Alphabet books.  Q words were hard to come up with but we did a great job making the Q sound. Alphabet books will come home at the end of the school year

We had fun looking at winter themed books.  We were able to talk about different things we see in the winter and what type of clothing we might need to wear in the winter.

 Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
Today with Mrs. Wegener we stamped 6 yellow stars on a piece of paper to help us count 1 to 6. We sing the song Twinkle Twinkle Little Star every day and so many of our friends were able to sing the song when they were working at this center.

PENGUINS
Today we used circle stickers to help decorate a penguin.  We used black stickers for the penguins feathers, white feathers for their tummies and orange feathers for their feet.  This center allowed us to work on our fine motor skills as we had to place the stickers in the correct area and hold the stickers in our fingers.  We also worked on our color matching skills of orange, black and white.  We also were able to incorporate the number 6 we are studying about into placing the 6 black stickers onto the feathers of our penguins.

Cutting up a Big Snow Storm
Today we cut white strips of paper to make a snow storm.  Cutting with scissors is an activity that we do every week.  Learning how to hold the scissors and open and close them gives them a little push for them to be be prepared for preschool.  We did a great job using the scissors to day and you can check out our snow storms in the hallway.

Morning Meeting
Happy Thursday!

Today we talked about the number 1 and 4 and how the color was a dark pink

Our Mr. Weather Frog started the day out ready for cold weather but by the time we went home I think his Snowman Frog was melted and you didn't need to wear a coat.  Have to love living in the STL!

Our theme board for January

Today my friends helped me put the different white objects on the color board. Ask your little one what they put on the board today.

Snowman Penguin Pattern for the month of January

Letter Q and working on singing our ABC's

We read a book about a snow day and what we do on snow days!

Transition
This month we are putting star stickers on a piece of paper.  We are waiting for our name to be called and then we have to identify the color of the star and then place it on the board.  This activity is helping us with our listening skills, following directions and color identification.  We are also working on our fine motor skills as we have to place the sticker onto the paper

Snack Time
We enjoy our time together while we had a delicious snack.  This is a great time for us to work on sitting in our chair and keeping our feet in front of us and waiting patiently for our turn to talk.

Commons Play
We had lots of fun playing in the commons with our friends today!

Jesus Time
Today we reviewed the Christmas Story and then read what happened to Jesus after the Wise men visited him and brought him three gifts.  We found out that some bad people wanted to hurt Jesus, so his mom Mary and Dad Joseph had to travel to Egypt to stay safe.  We also sang Jesus Loves Me and the B-I-B-L-E and said the following echo prayer Dear God, Thank you for the birth of your son Jesus in your name we pray. Amen.

Circle Time
We listened to a story and did our Six Little Penguins Flannel Board Story

Music and Movement
We were all a little tired by the time we got to Music and Movement so we only did a few songs.

Our Final book for the day was about Clifford as a little puppy and his red sled he name Rose Bud.

We ended our day with prayer, lunch and our good-bye song.  Sending lots of prayers to everyone this weekend that everyone gets healthy and stays healthy.  I look forward to seeing everyone next week as we continue on our journey of learning about Jesus as a little boy and the season of winter penguins and snow!   Have a wonderful weekend.
