Happy First Day of School

THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

We had an awesome first day of school!  We met new friends, had fun painting, coloring, singing songs and listening to stories!  Whew we did a lot but had fun doing it all!  The blog will be sent out each day and will update you on what we did in class along with pictures of all the neat things we did!  

Jesus Time:  Today we spent time looking a picture of Jesus and looked at some pictures in the Bible.  We started learning the song Jesus Loves Me, and the hand motions that go with it.  This is something that we will do every week during Jesus time.  We spent time looking through the Bible of pictures of Jesus and during our center time we used our watercolor paints to paint a picture of Jesus. 

Number:  We started our study of the number one by holding up one finger and saying one.  We practiced counting 1 blue square today during our morning meeting.  

Shape:  We started our study of the square.  We talked about how it has four sides and often looks like a window.  We looked around the room during morning meeting to see if we could find any squares and we found a few!  During center time we had the opportunity to color a picture of a square using crayons. 

Letter:  Today we practiced singing our ABC's and when we were getting ready to line up for snack, lunch and outside time we had to listen for our name and what the first letter in our name was. 

Color:  We are learning about the color blue this month.  During our morning meeting we identified different blue objects and.  We also had fun painting our hands with our favorite color today for a special poem that came home with each child today.  

Music and Movement:  We learned lots of new songs and had fun dancing and singing.  We sang The Wheels on the Bus, Five Little Ducks, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes and Shake and Move.

Outside Time:  We got lucky today and were able to go outside for a good 35-40minutes. We had a great time riding bikes and playing with more new friends!

Free Choice 

This is at the beginning of the day and we have the opportunity to explore and play in the classroom.

Reese, Kate and  Ella had fun playing with the blue play dough and making all types of fun cut outs with the cookie cutters. 

.  Isaiah and Easton were busy dressing Minnie Mouse on the Magnetic board.  The Magnetic board has different things on it every couple of weeks. 

.  Isaiah enjoyed using the chalk board this morning.  The chalkboard and dry erase board are always open.

We had a lot of fun picking out our favorite color to have our hand painted for a special keepsake that came home with my little friends today.

This is the start of our day.  We come together sing a song to say hello to all of our friends and then we do some other fun things!

After we had fun outside we came inside and washed our hands and listened to a story and we had a special vistor stop in.  Mr. Debrick, the school principal came in and said Hello.

This is the time of day when the classroom is opened back up to my friends and we work on different activites at the table

After center time is over we clean up and have some fun singing and dancing.

.  As you can see by the pictures we had a pretty great first day of school. As the weeks progress more things will be added in during our school day we like to ease into our routine and make sure that everyone is feeling safe, happy and comfortable.  I hope your enjoyed the first blog post and that your children had a wonderful time today.  I look forward to seeing some of you tomorrow and blessings on those that I will see next week on a wonderful and relaxing weekend.
