It is hard to
believe that we are into the last week of February! Time is flying by really fast. We had a great day in our classroom. We had fun exploring the toys, playing with
play dough, lacing big buttons, solving puzzles, building towers with big
blocks and small blocks. Imaginative
play is really starting to come out in our little friends and it is so exciting
to observe and watch.
Today we
started to wrap our study on the number 7, the shape of the heart, our purple
and pink pattern and the color of pink.
We sang our song about Zacchaeus and started to talk about the season of
lent.
We are really
concentrating on sitting during our morning meeting and making sure that we are
keeping our hands to ourselves and not bothering our friends around us.
It was great
to see all of my friends today at school, it has been a while where all eleven
friends have been at school… please review our policy on being sick down
below.
Many of our
friends have been fighting colds, coughs, fevers and snotty noses. As a reminder your child needs to be fever
free for a complete 24 HOURS before returning to school. With that being said we are really enforcing
hand washing, covering our mouths when we cough or sneeze and using a tissue to
wipe our noses.
Enjoy reading
about our day and viewing the pictures.
Jesus Time: This
week's Bible story comes fro Genesis 2-3
The first week in Lent:
Today we talked about how God created the Garden of Eden and that means
paradise. In the garden God planted two
Trees the Tree of Life and The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God told Adam and Eve they could eat from the
Tree of Life but they must not eat the fruit for The Tree of Knowledge of Good
and Evil, because they would then know all that was good in the world, but they
would also know what was bad in the world and this would make God sad. Well, Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of
Knowledge of Good and Evil and God was very sad and even though he had built
this beautiful place for them they had to leave. God wanted to be able bring them back to the
paradise and in order from him to do that he had to buy them back and he did
that at the price of his son. Jesus.
Number: We reviewed learning
how to count to the number 7 We practiced counting 7 fingers, counting 7
hearts, counting 7 friends and clapping 7 times.
During our center time we had to find all the number 7 on our
piece of paper and every number 7 we found we had to place a pink bingo dauber
on it. When we found a number 7 we said the 7 to help us remember what it looks
like.
Shape: We reviewed our
shape the Heart this month so.
We practiced tracing a heart pattern today so we would become
familiar with the shape of heart. After
we traced our heart with a pink marker on pink paper we stamped 7 different
heart shaped stamps in the middle of our heart
Color: Pink is our color
for the month we had fun placing different pictures on our board. Ask your child what pictures they placed on
my color board today. We are making
Morning Meeting more interactive so my friends helped my put all the pink
pictures on our board.
During center time we squeezed pink and purple paint onto a pink
or red heart and then stuck it into a salad spinner and spun the spinner as
hard as we could to make a very cool looking heart!
Music and Movement: We sang Jesus Loves Me, Twinkle Twinkle
Little Star. We had fun learning the Zacchaeus song as well The Wheels on the
Bus, Jumping and Counting, Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, Five Little Ducks,
Bringing Home a Baby Bumble Bee and a new song called Bones. Our new song helps us learn the different
parts of our body.
Outside Time: With the ground covered in snow we did not get to
go outside and we were unable to head to the commons due to an event taking
place in there with the preschoolers. So
we had the opportunity to play in one of the other PDO Rooms. It was a lot of fun for us to play in a
different room with different toys
Patterning: We reviewed
our pattern today of pink and purple hearts.
We are continuing along our letter journey today we learned
about the letter I and made an ice cream with our hands for our letter Alphabet
book. We also charted what we like to
eat our ice cream out of a bowl or a cone 7 of our friends love to eat it out
of a cone and 4 of our friends like to eat ice cream out of bowl. Thursday we will chart what kind of ice cream
we like to eat.
Sensory and Science was spent today creating and making heart
shapes with our pink play dough and cookie cutters.
We are doing lots of exploring, learning and discovering all
types of things through out the day in our classroom. Everyday is an adventure and everyday is
different. Which is the beauty of
working with this age group.
Enjoy the pictures from our day!
Free Choice Play
We were busy today lacing, building with blocks, doing puzzles, putting on a puppet show and playing with play dough. We listened to music for How To Train a Dragon today.
