We were
surrounded by hearts and feeling the love in our classroom today. We had a lot of fun playing with friends and
exploring the classroom.
We did lots of
different things that are helping us with getting ready for Valentine’s Day and
we read some great books too that help us learn about loving each other not
only on Valentine’s Day but all year long.
I can truly
say I LOVE each and every one of my little friends that come to my classroom on
Thursdays. It warms my heart to have so
many wonderful little friends that love to learn, laugh, play and have
fun. I have been truly blessed with some
wonderful students and families this year.
During Morning
Meeting we are continuing to work on sitting down and using our listening ears
as we learn about exciting things! We
are also learning our new Superman Prayer and are doing a fabulous job at it!
Below are the words to the prayer see if your child can recite any of the words
for you.
Thank you, God
for giving us food
Thank you, God
for giving us food
For the
friends that we meet,
For the food
that we eat,
Thank you,
God, for giving us food
Amen!
Many of our
friends have been fighting colds, coughs, fevers and snotty noses. As a reminder your child needs to be fever free
for a complete 24 HOURS before returning to school. With that being said we are really enforcing
hand washing, covering our mouths when we cough or sneeze and using a tissue to
wipe our noses.
Enjoy reading
about our day and viewing the pictures.
Jesus Time: This
week's Bible story comes from Luke 18:15-17
Jesus Blesses the Children
People loved to bring their children to Jesus for Him to bless
them. Jesus welcomed them with open arms.
But Jesus' disciples thought He had more important things to do
than talk to children.
"Don't bother Him with the children," they said to the
mothers and fathers. Jesus overheard them and became angry.
"Let the children come to me!" He said. "Don't
try to stop them!"
"My kingdom belongs to people who are like these children.
You will never enter God's kingdom if you don't enter it like a child."
Number: Today we started
our study of the number seven. We
practice counting to seven with our fingers, finding seven hearts to count. Counting
seven friends jumping up and down seven times.
During our center time we decorated our Valentine Bags for the
Valentines we received from our friends.
We used 7 stickers on the front and 7 stickers on the back to decorate
our bag. They look beautiful. This was also a great way to work on our fine
motor skill, as we had to peel off the sticker and place it on our bag.
Shape: We continued to
learn about the shape of a Heart.
During Center time we made a valentine friend that involved us
practicing our cutting skills and gluing skills. Be sure to check out our beautiful Valentine
Friends in our Lobby!
Color: We continued to
learn about the color pink. We placed
many different items on our color board that are the color pink. Ask your child if they remember what item
they placed on the color board.
Music and Movement: We sang Jesus Loves Me, Twinkle Twinkle
Little Star. We also have been singing 5 little ducks a lot lately to help us
with our counting skills. We also found
our Baby Bumble Bee and clapped our hands.
Outside Time: We had some beautiful weather over the weekend and
I hope everyone was able to find sometime to get outside and enjoy it. Unfortunately, the warm beautiful weather did
not stick around this week and we ended up playing in the commons with our
other friends from PDO!!
Patterning: We continued
working on our pattern today of pink and purple hearts.
Today during our center time we had to make our own heart
pattern of purple hearts and pink hearts.
We are a little behind with our letter study and we are going to
play catch up so this week we went back to the letter G to help us get back on
track.
We made a giraffe for our letter book that will be coming home
in May.
As a reminder many things will come home over the course of the
month but some things will not as this will be put in your child’s portfolio
that you will get at the end of the school year!
Enjoy the pictures from our day!
Free Choice Play
We enjoyed listening to a selection of classical music today as we learned and explored and had fun with our friends.
. Mrs. Wegner spent some time during free choice time reading to our lovely friends. This group loves to be read to and it is great that we are able to spend time reading books to them.
. Busy building and reparing
. Working together to build a tower with blocks.
. We are ready to get our Valentine on!
Morning Meeting
. Today we had to stand up and wave our hand when are name was called in our Welcome Song. Some of us did it some of us were not so sure of it. It was something new and different.
. We are jumping up and down seven times.
. Today we were each given a pink object to put on the color board. When Mrs. Horn called the students picture they were given the opportunity to bring the picture up and put on the board. This helps us with our listening and following direction skills as well as having Morning Meeting be a little more interactive.
. We read a favorite book of mine today, I love the Mouse Books and it just so happens that Mouse is a fixture in our room everyday so he joined us during morning meeting to read this book!
Transition & Snack Time
Today was one Mrs. Burke's Birthday she is an aide in another PDO room and many of my friends had her last year so she was kind enough to bring over so yummy oreos to share with us.
. Circle Time
We had fun singing our ABC's and reading this book about the snow. Word is that there is possibility of snow this coming week so thought it was appropriate to read.
. Transition Time
We played the shape matching game on the magnetic board before we headed to the commons to play
. Commons Time
I forgot to take pictures while we were in the commons today. We were having so much fun that I got caught up in the moment and forgot to photograph our fun. I am so sorry. I did snap a picture of us heading back from the commons.
. Center Time
Art Easel
. Julija was pretending to be asleep. They were playing some type of game and she was suppose to sleep for a certain amount of time. It is so neat to see how their play is evolving and changing.
. Making our Valentine Friend
Be sure to check them out in our lobby.
. Reese spending sometime in the orange chair reading the Frozen seek and find book.
. We LOVE PUZZLES
. Another game of imaginative play that involved the baby dolls.
. More Puzzles
. Evan decided to check out the Frozen seek and find book that has been so popular in our classroom this week.
. Coloring a Valentine Picture
We have not done a lot of coloring the past month or so. I was very impressed with how well they are all coloring so much so that I decided to hang them up in our classroom. Be sure and see how well your little one is doing with their coloring skills.
. Even MORE Puzzles
. Music and Movement
. We read one final book today that is also one of my favorites.
Transition & Lunch Time
. We spent some time during music and movement we listened to array of different sounds and practiced identifying them. We charted the sounds we heard. All of my friends did a great job identifying the sounds.
HAPPY VALENTINES TO ALL OF MY FRIENDS AND THEIR FAMILIES. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend celebrating the Valentine holiday with your loved ones. We had a wonderful day in our class and I look forward to seeing everyone next week.
