This week we are celebrating the Week of the Young
Child and National Children’s Book Week.
We had fun today seeing everyone’s favorite stripes and we read lots and
lots of books today that our friends all brought to school. We also had fun learning more about the farm
and exploring the classroom and outside.
We are continuing our study of the farm and we
painted the sky for our farm scene and glued our red barns we had painted and
10 animals on our page. Be sure and look
out in the hallway for the all our great farm pictures. We also started our study of the number 10,
the shape of the diamond and reviewing the colors we have learned about this
year. We also did a small introduction
into Superheroes this week.
Park Day is scheduled for Saturday May 16 from 10- Noon at the Tot Lot
Park off Kimberly Drive in St. Peters (directions will be given out next
week). This a time for friends to come
play and for parents to meet and get to know each other and exchange phone
numbers for future play dates. Please be
sure an email Mrs. Horn if you will be attending!
We had a lot of fun learning about the farm and all
the different things there are on the farm and the type of animals on the
farm. We enjoyed learning about the farm
the past few weeks but it is time for us to explore something new and so next
week there will be new toys and fun things to do in our classroom to help us
finish up the end of the school year.
Enjoy reading about our day!
Jesus Time: Today we started talking
about how Jesus rose to heaven and went up into the clouds. We also reviewed the Easter Story and what
happened after Jesus rose from the tomb.
Number: During our morning meeting we were introduced
to the number 1O and we counted our ten fingers and ten toes as well as ten
friends and 10 flowers. The ten flowers
we counted we then discussed how they were the same and how they were
different. Some were the same because they
were from the same color family and others were different because of the colors
they were. This is something we have
been focusing on more the past few weeks and we are doing really well and
finding things that are the same and different.
During our Center time
we practiced our counting skills, we counted out 10 farm animals and put them
on our farm page we are making. We also
counted 10 flowers to stamp in our flower vases for the last page of our number
counting books. These will start coming
home in the next few weeks! We also had
fun placing 10 Mickey Mouse Stickers on a big piece of paper that we will be
filling up over the next few days. To help us work on our fine motor skills
Shape: During Morning Meeting we were introduced to
the shape of a diamond. We found out
that we can make a diamond with our fingers.
We also read a book that one of our friends brought in that was about a
kite and we discovered that a kite is the shape of a diamond!!
During Center time we
picked our favorite color and used a bingo dauber to help us trace the outline
of the diamond.
Color: During the
month of May we are reviewing the colors we have learned through out the school
year.
During center time we
used bingo daubers to match the colors on our sheet to decorate a flower. We used the colors red, blue, purple and
green. We practiced identifying the
colors as we found them on our flowers. We also played a color matching game
during one of our circle times we had to match the bow tie to the right colored
penguins.
Music and Movement: We
sang Jesus Loves Me, and our ABC’s today.
We also sang the Wheels on the Bus and Bringing Home a Baby Bumblebee.
Outside Time: We did go outside today. We had such a good time playing this morning
early on the playground and it was so beautiful that we stayed out extra long
and then returned outside for another 45 minutes after we had snack and circle
time. We had a yummy treat outside when
we went out the second time today.
Patterning: We were introduced to a new pattern of
Spiderman and Batman for the last few weeks of school.
Sensory and Science led
us to the sensory table for the last week of corn being in our sensory table we
will have something new and different in there next week. We also spent time talking about the birds
and bird feeder and we filled them up with some more bird food. We are all pretty interested in watching to
see when the birds will come and eat from the feeders. We also were introduced to lots of different
types of flowers today as we played a flower matching game on our magnetic
board.
We also made a special
Mother’s Day gift that came home today.
Enjoy the pictures for
Today!
Free Choice Play
We had fun playing with all the things today. Many of the puzzles and toys and sensory table will be switched out come Tuesday Morning.
Some of us were not happy to take a break from the fun to work with Mrs. Horn! I love working with this age and their faces and expressions sometimes just make me chuckle!
Outside Play
Free Choice Play
We worked for a while on a new floor Puzzle we never got it done, so we will try again next week.
Farm Project
Some of us still needed to paint the sky so we could glue on all of our farm animals and barn. These are displayed in the lobby and in the hallway.

Transition Time and Snack
Circle Time
Flower Matching Game
On the magnet board we had fun learning new names for flowers and matching them up!
We read another book and then we headed outside!
Putting more food in our bird feeders I will keep you updated on what they look like!
Yummy treats for our friends who are so important to us and all hold such a special spot in my hearts. My world is better for having each and everyone of them in my classroom this year and it has been an honor to be there "first" teacher!
We headed back inside and played a penguin color matching game.
Centers
We worked with Mrs. Wegener to trace the outline of a diamond using bingo daubers.
Counting to Ten
We used our fine motor skills to peel and count 10 Mickey Mouse Stickers.
Farm Project
We finished up our Farm Project Today by counting out 10 animals and saying their name and identifying their sounds.
Here are all the books we read today and the friends who brought them in!
We had a busy fun filled day and we read some really great books I think over the past 3 days I read 20 books or more. Remember to take time to read with your child 20 minutes each day.
Have a great weekend and HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TO ALL THE MOMS!
