Good-Bye to our friend M.D.

Wednesday, May 20

We are coming down to the home stretch of the school year!  We had a lot of fun in our class today playing with sand in the sensory table and learning more about Super Hero’s and just enjoying our time with our friends before the school year ends.  As we begin the wind down of the school year our center time is not as structured and we are doing more whole group activities.  Be sure and check the lobby for your child’s Super Hero and ask them what their Super Hero power is.  We had a lot of fun playing inside the classroom and outside the classroom.

Today we said good-bye to our friend M.D. his family is moving to Columbia, Missouri and we want to wish them good fortune and many blessings on their new adventures in a new town.  Please keep them in your prayers as they move, get settled and deal with transitions and getting to know a new place

Few reminders that we are still in school the remainder of this week and the last day of PDO will be next Thursday, May 28.

Summer School starts on the 01 of June and you may still register if you wish but time is running out to do so.

VBS is the week of June 15-June 19.  Forms went home last week and if your child will be attending Preschool in the fall, is three or older and is potty trained then they are eligible to attend VBS.  If you need a form please let me know.

Enjoy reading about our day!

Jesus Time:

This week's Bible story can be found in Acts 2:1-6.

The Holy Spirit comes to the believers

A few days after Jesus' ascension, on the day of Pentecost, all of Jesus' apostles met together in one place.
Suddenly there was a noise from heaven that sounded like a strong wind blowing. The noise filled the whole house. Then tongues that looked like fire appeared on each one. Everyone was filled with the Holy Spirit and could suddenly speak all kinds of different languages!
There were people in Jerusalem from many different countries, but they could all understand Jesus' apostles speak of the mighty works of God in their own language.

Number:  During our morning meeting we were introduced to the number 1O and we counted our ten fingers and ten toes as well as ten friends and 10 flowers.  We also counted 10 super heroes. We talked about how they were the same and how they were different.  I am really impressed with how well they are able to make the comparisons and identify the differences in our things we count.   This is a skill that they will continue working on in preschool and we will continue to work on next year in PDO.

Shape:  During Morning Meeting we talked about the shape of a diamond.  We found out that we can make a diamond with our fingers.

Color: During the month of May we are reviewing the colors we have learned through out the school year.

During center time used our favorite color to paint with we picked our favorite color and we were able to have our hand painted for a special project that will be displayed in the hallway soon.  We also used different colored strips to cut up and make a pretty collage on a piece of paper

Music and Movement: We sang Jesus Love our ABC’s and did Beethoven’s 5th Symphony as well as Clapping our hands.

Outside Time:  We enjoyed the beautiful weather outside today and had a lot of fun playing with all of our friends in PDO!  We spent a long time outside this morning soaking in the sunshine

Patterning:  We continued working on our pattern of Spider man and Batman for the last few weeks of school.

Sensory and Science Time: We had fun scooping out the corn of the sensory table and dumping the sand into it and playing in the sand.  We had fun scooping pouring and feeling the sand.  Some of us could of probably played there all day if we could have.  We also filled up our bird feeders again and no sooner had I put the feeders back outside that our little bird friends came to visit. We are all pretty interested in watching to see when the birds will come and eat from the feeders.

We also worked on our cutting skills, as we had to cut out some Super Hero figures and then glue and match their pieces together.

Enjoy the pictures for Today!
