The Day Mrs. Horn Lost her Voice and how awesome her friends were!

Wednesday, March 25 2015

Well today was a true test on Mrs. Horn’s Part!  I started to lose my voice yesterday and this morning I was down to a small whisper.  All my little friends did a great job listening and doing what I asked and when it came time for clean up all I had to do was turn on the clean up music on and they knew what to do.  Morning meeting went well they all were quiet and listened as I talked in a whisper.  I could not be prouder of how well our day went despite me not having a voice.

We had fun in our classroom today doing lots of fun things to help us get ready for the spring season.  We had some new items in our classroom to play with as well we had fun exploring the new things that were out for us to learn and discover about.

We continued on our journey of the number 8, the shape of a rectangle and the color yellow.  We had fun stamping, painting, coloring, cutting and reading books.

Enjoy reading about our day!

Jesus Time: This week's Bible story comes from Matthew, Mark and Luke.

Taken from Read and Share Bible:
Jesus prays for help

Jesus and His followers went straight from dinner to a quiet garden. Jesus wanted to pray and ask God to make Him strong for what was about to happen. He took three of His closest followers- Peter, James, and John- with Him. Jesus asked them to wait and pray.

He went a little farther into the garden so that He could pray by Himself. It was very late, and the three men were very tired. They couldn't keep their eyes open to pray. Soon they were asleep. Jesus woke them twice, but they went back to sleep each time.

When we have tough things ahead of us, we need to pray and ask God to help us.

Number:  We continued to learn about the number 8 today.  We looked at the number 8 and how it looks like to circles on top of each other.  We counted 8 Easter Eggs in an Easter Basket to help us with counting the number 8.

Today we stamped 8 shamrocks for our counting book that will becoming home in May.  We did this activity during our center time.

Shape:  We continue to work on the shape of a rectangle.  We talked about how the door to our classroom is the shape of a rectangle.  We also found other things in our classroom that were shaped like a rectangle we charted about what we found

Color: Yellow is the color we are learning about in the month of March.  We placed yellow objects on our color board today and each student was given the opportunity to help put an object on the board during Morning Meeting.

During center time we painted a yellow duck that will be displayed in our classroom this next week.  We also charted during our final transition of the day what we had on that was the color yellow!

Music and Movement: We sang Jesus Loves Me, and our ABC’s and sang Five Little Ducks

Outside Time: it was way to wet and soggy for us to enjoy the playground this morning so we headed to the commons to play with our other friends in PDO.  I pray good weather will come our way soon so we can get outside and play on the big playground as well as our playground

Patterning:  We started a new pattern today of pink and purple bunnies.

Sensory and Science led us to the sensory table where we discovered Easter Grass and lots of plastic Easter Eggs that we had to match together.  We talked about how it was chilly outside and that we need to still wear our jackets and coats and that Spring time can be an up and down of cold and warm days.

I was so pleased with how everything went today.  I was very nervous of how the day would go without me having the ability to speak but I was so pleasantly surprised by how well all my friends know the routines and what is expected of them in the classroom.

Enjoy the pictures of today!
