Soggy Wet
Tuesday is what we were greeted with today.
We had a different kind of day today and my friends did fairly well with
the schedule we were on today. Today we
had the opportunity to go to the big church with the rest of the school to help
celebrate the life of one of our former students Drew Albritton. I was so very impressed and happy with how
well behaved and quiet all my little friends were today in the church. We were there for about 40 minutes and they
were all great! It was a beautiful
celebration of Drew’s life and I am sure he is up in heaven smiling down at the
celebration that was in his honor.
Please keep the Albritton family in your prayers.
We had fun in
our classroom today doing lots of fun things to help us get ready for the
spring season. We had some new items in
our classroom to play with as well we had fun exploring the new things that
were out for us to learn and discover about.
We continued
on our journey of the number 8, the shape of a rectangle and the color
yellow. We had fun stamping, painting,
coloring, cutting and reading books.
Enjoy reading
about our day!
Jesus Time: This
week's Bible story comes from Matthew, Mark and Luke.
Taken from Read and Share Bible:
Jesus prays for help
Jesus and His followers went straight from dinner to a
quiet garden. Jesus wanted to pray and ask God to make Him strong
for what was about to happen. He took three of His closest followers-
Peter, James, and John- with Him. Jesus asked them to wait and pray.
He went a little farther into the garden so that He could pray
by Himself. It was very late, and the three men were very tired.
They couldn't keep their eyes open to pray. Soon they were
asleep. Jesus woke them twice, but they went back to sleep each time.
When we have tough things ahead of us, we need to pray and
ask God to help us.
During our center time we colored a picture of Jesus Praying in
the Garden. We also talked a lot about
praying today before we went to the main church. We practiced folding our hands and bowing our
heads.
Number: We continued to learn
about the number 8 today. We looked at
the number 8 and how it looks like to circles on top of each other. We counted 8 Easter Eggs in an Easter Basket
to help us with counting the number 8.
Today we stamped 8 shamrocks for our counting book that will
becoming home in May. We did this activity
during our center time.
Shape: We continue to
work on the shape of a rectangle. We
talked about how the door to our classroom is the shape of a rectangle. We also found other things in our classroom
that were shaped like a rectangle we came up with quite a list we will be
charting these rectangle finding on Thursday.
During our center time we practiced our pre-writing skills with
tracing the outline of a rectangles that made a train.
Color: Yellow is the color we will be learning about in the
month of March. We placed yellow objects
on our color board today and each student was given the opportunity to help put
an object on the board during Morning Meeting.
Music and Movement: We sang Jesus Loves Me, and our ABC’s, we
shook our bodies down and Five Days Old!
Outside Time: we were unable to go outside due to the rainy,
chilly wet weather and we did not go to the commons today because we were in
the church for the celebration of Drew’s Life.
Patterning: We started a
new pattern today of pink and purple bunnies.
Sensory and Science led us to the sensory table where we
discovered Easter Grass and lots of plastic Easter Eggs that we had to match
together. We talked about how it was
rainy today and that we needed our umbrella to keep us dry.
We did a great job in the church I cannot say it enough and I
know the Albritton appreciated us being there and supporting them and Reese as
they get through this difficult time.
Remember life is short and we never know how long we will be here so hug
you little ones a little tighter today and pray for the Albrittons. At Zion we are not only a school but we are
family!

. Sitting in the Pews
We did awesome sitting and waiting for the rest of the school to arrive and we were so quiet I was told by many of the teachers that their students could learn a thing or two from how well my friends all sat!
. Preschoolers Ringing the Bells
The entire preschool rang hand bells that were given by the Albritton Family in honor of Drew. They played Jesus Loves Me and it was beautiful I don't think there was a dry eye from the adults. I am sure Drew was smiling down at all his friends.
. After the preschoolers rang the bells. We listened to Pastor Rouland talk and he read a book about what Heaven was like and what a beautiful safe place it is and there is not crying and it is filled with lots of beautiful things. After Pastor Rouland spoke the entire church sang Jesus Loves Me. Our kiddos did an awesome job singing it and doing the hand motions. I wish I could of captured some pictures.
We then were dismissed to the Welcome Center where we blew bubbles up into Heaven to let Drew know we love him and he will never be forgotten. Each of our little friends were paired with an eighth grade friend to help them blow their bubbles. It was really beautiful. Reese was in attendance with her parents and her friends were happy to see her after we were done.
. After the service we waited for the crowds to clear out and we did a great job sitting and waiting to go back to our classroom. I can not stress enough how super proud I am of these kiddos.
. Circle Time
Because we did such a great job sitting in the church and be so still we came back and got some of our energy out by singing and Dancing.
