Rudolph
the Red Nose Reindeer…..was who we were channeling today! We had a great day in Room C today. We had fun learning more about the Christmas
Story, practicing our song Away in the Manger for Saturday night at Church, making
fun Christmas activities and just having a great day with our friends. It is so great to see how this group has
adapted to the classroom environment since the beginning of the school year. We are doing really well with sitting at
circle time listening, following directions and participating as need be. We know our routine fairly well and know what
is to come next and are continuing to work on learning what is ok to do at
school and what is not ok to do at school.
Just
a reminder that we are into flu season and that is always a good reminder to
our little ones to keep our fingers out of noses and mouths and that washing
our hands is always a good thing especially after we have gone to the bathroom
or getting ready to eat some food. Also
it is best to cover our mouths when we need to sneeze or cough! Enjoy reading what we did today and viewing
the pictures of the fun things we did!
Jesus Time: Today we continued Christmas Story and with the help
of visual aides we learned how Mary and Joseph had to make a long journey to Bethlehem
and when they arrived their was no room for them at the inn. But they did find a stable that the innkeeper
told them they could rest at and that is where Baby Jesus was born! A big thank you to Avery’s Grandmother Barbara
for loaning us the little people’s manger set to help tell the story of Baby
Jesus!
During our center time we used markers to color a picture of Mary,
Joseph and baby Jesus.
Number: We continued learning about the number 5 today. During Morning Meeting we looked at what the
number 5 looks like and then we practiced counting to 5. We counted 5 fingers,
rubbed our bellies 5 times, stomped our feet 5 times and jumped up and down
five times. We then counted 5 red
Christmas Stockings.
During center time we decorated a Christmas wreath by using a
bingo dauber and finding 5 red berries in our wreath and then we practiced our
prewriting skills by coloring the wreath green.
We also were given a big number 5 and we stamped 5 different
Christmas items on the number 5 a practiced saying some new Christmas words,
ornament, Christmas Tree, angel, gingerbread, stocking.
Shape: We are learning about a Triangle during December. We talked about how a triangle has 3 sides
and how a lot of times you can make a Christmas tree out of triangles.
Center time allowed us the opportunity to trace a triangle with a with
a green bingo dauber.
Color: Green was introduced
during our Morning Meeting and we filled up our green board with different
objects that are green.
Music and Movement: We also had fun singing our ABC’s, twinkle
Little Star. We practiced singing away
in the Manager, which we will be singing on December 13 at the 5:00 church
service. We had fun clapping our hands,
doing the Silly Dance Contest, Washing in the Wash Machine
Outside Time: WE did go outside today it was great to get out and have some
fresh air run and play with our other friends from other classes. Please
remember to dress your child appropriately from warm clothing, proper footwear
and outerwear.
Patterning: We continued
working on our pattern of the month of candy cane and Ornaments. We had fun saying the words and counting to
10! More new Christmas Vocabulary
words!
During center time we did a Christmas pattern of Christmas tree
and Stocking. We are really getting good
with our pattering skills.
Science and Sensory: The
sensory table was filled with all different types of things we may see at
Christmas time. It will be opened each
day for the children, to touch, look and feel what we may see at
Christmas. Ask them what they saw in the
table. More new Christmas Vocabulary
words to learn….
During center time we had fun making a reindeer with our feet and
hands with brown paint! Be sure to wash
your child’s feet extra good tonight I think we got the majority of the paint
off our feet but we might of missed a little!
This was fun activity and the kids loved it!
Enjoy the pictures from our day!
