What a beautiful day God granted us today. This kind of weather could stick around all
year. We had an awesome day in our
classroom today. All of my friends were
busy creating, exploring, learning and playing through out their day with
us. We continued to learn about the
color purple, the number 8, the shape of an oval. Our Bible Story today was about Jesus and the
Last Supper and Praying in the Garden of Gesthamne. This week we will be finishing up the
alphabet with the letter Z. Next week we
will begin to focus on the letters that are in our first names. We enjoyed being able to get out in the
sunshine and play with our friends.

REMINDERS
Enrollment for ELP is still taking place for the 2016-2017 school
year. I strongly urge you to register
your child if you have not done so yet.
We are starting to become full on certain days and if you want certain
days for your child you need to do this soon.
Please tell your friends and family of small children about Zion and if
they are looking for a loving, caring environment for their child we are the
place to come!
Outerwear, we did go outside today as we start to ease into the
season of spring we are hoping to be able to spend time outside viewing all the
wonderful things that GOD creates for us.
So please make sure your child is dressed in appropriate clothing and
footwear.
Are you still labeling
your child’s snack, drinks and lunch? I
know how it is we get to this time of year and it is hard to stay on top of
things as we all start to look forward to the warmer months and
summertime. We still have a good 2 ½
months of school left so please help us out in the classroom by making sure
snack, drinks, lunchboxes, coats and clothes are labeled with your child’s name
on it.
We are entering
March meaning we only have three months of school left??????? Springtime seems to always become a very busy
time of year with lots of things going on as well as wrapping up the school
year. Please be sure to read blogs,
emails and check your child’s folder on a daily basis. I will do my best to keep you informed of
what is going on and please do no hesitate to ask questions about
something.
I
hope you were able to enjoy some of the beautiful weather today with your
kiddos and soak in some sunshine. I look
forward to seeing you next week!
Free Choice/Centers
Today we listened to some opera and classical music. The tone and feel of our classroom all morning was that of relaxation and creative minds working together! We enjoyed puzzles and blocks on the tables at the beginning of the morning
Alphabet Books
Today we worked on the letter Z in our alphabet book. Alphabet books will becoming home at the end of the school year along with number books, name books and portfolios.
Painting a Purple Flower
Today we used a cotton ball to paint a purple flower. We had to put 8 dabs of paint onto our paper. Once they dry they will be hung up in our classroom. We were able to work on recognizing the color purple and counting to the number 8. This was a different way for us to paint and explore what would happen when we held the cotton ball with just a clothespin. It allowed for us to work on our fine motor skills as we had to hold onto the clothespin very carefully and not squeeze it to hard because then the cotton ball would come out of the clothespin.
The Last Supper
Today during Jesus time we are learning about the Lord's Last Supper and him praying in the Garden. Today we colored a loaf of bread, decorated an oval plate with 8 star stickers and used a bingo dauber to show the juice in the cup that Jesus drank from. Be sure to check out the great work our little friends have been doing on our Journey to the cross in the hallway.
Coloring
Today we used our crayons to color a picture of a shamrock and rainbow. We are working learning our colors and the colors of the rainbow as well as how to use a crayon and color with it. We did a great job coloring and our rainbows will be proudly displayed in our classroom for all to see.
Play
This is so important in our classroom so we have incorporated a lot more time for our friends to play with their friends and to explore the classroom. I have observed so many great things this year in our classroom with this type of environment. As a reminder our program is all about exposing our little ones to a wide variety of things the will learn and experience in preschool. We work on lots of social skills and learning how to play and be in a school setting so that the transition to preschool is a pleasant and enjoyable experience for your little one.
Stamping 8 Shamrocks
Today using 8 different shamrocks and a green ink pad we worked on our counting skills of counting to the number 8.
Along with our play comes clean-up and this is something all of my friends as a whole are really struggling with. In preschool all of my friends will be expected to clean up the classroom and assist to make sure the classroom is back in the order they found it when they arrived in the morning. My friends loves to play and explore with many of the different things in the classroom, but really struggle with the time of day when they all need to help clean up the room.
Morning Meeting
Happy Wednesday!
(love these little people so much they have come a long way since the day back in August when they began here at Zion)
Today our calendar card had a rainbow and pot of gold with it
We dressed Mr. Weather Frog in his Spring Fashion line for the beautiful weather we had today.
Theme Board
Purple Board
Patterning Pots of Gold and Rainbows!
We made it to the letter Z and the ABC"s
This book was about a silly goose trying to find a warm place to hatch her baby eggs.
Transition
Today we put our pots of gold at the end of our rainbow. When it is your child's last day of school for this week they will be bringing home their pot of gold and their Mickey Mouse Shamrock Name Tag.
Jesus Time
Today we talked about how Jesus spent his last meal with his closet followers and after they had eaten they went to the garden to pray. We practiced singing Jesus Loves the Little Children and Jesus Loves me and reviewing the Christmas Story up to this point. We also prayed for our friends and families.
Music and Movement
A few songs to shake our sillies out and dance and freeze to the beat!
Outside Play
We were so very excited to get outside and play with our friends and just enjoy the beautiful weather we have been given!
Circle Time
After we came back inside and cleaned our hands and faces we read a story about Mickey Mouse and his friends and heard our Five little Leprechauns flannel board story one more time.
Free Choice/Centers
Water Color Painting
Today we painted with watercolors to paint a beautiful Easter Egg that we will be displaying in a big basket on the wall in the weeks to come.
Fruit Loops, Marshmallows and Rainbows
Today some of my friends made a 3D rainbow as we practiced our fine motor skill of stringing fruit loops onto a pipe cleaner in each of the colors of the rainbow and counting to six. We started with a big marshmallow and finished with a big marshmallow. This activity provided us with sensory integration, counting, color recognition and fine motor of getting the fruit loop on the top of the pipe cleaner. These will be displayed in the hallway on the bookshelf as you walk onto our side of the building be sure and check them out and all the other art work we have displayed in our hallways.
We had a very busy fun filled day in our classroom and another really great day in our room. Have a blessed weekend and look forward to seeing you all next week for the celebration of Holy Week!
